Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Move to Canada - it's better up here!

I can't believe the bitterness toward leadership I'm seeing here. I have a lot of respect for our STLs, ASTLs, and regional leadership. They're all hardworking, mature, decent people (who really do roll with the punches and lead by example). Things look positive up here, despite what's happened. We must be doing something right. Props to the execs who worked the counters over our thanksgiving weekend.

Agreed-

Leadership is talking about the changing retail environment. Uh....it changed like 4 years ago and you guys kept pretending that everything was still super-duper. They would come on their listening tours and us plebians told them exactly what they are now touting as "change that must happen".

Too little, too late...

Read the last two weeks of posts. (There's a button for prior posts beyond what initially loads on your screen.) When you get past the pettiness and anger, there's a pattern here that has been detailed by thoughtful and hardworking TMs. The pattern is that global and regional management failed to properly plan, implement and execute intelligent strategies to ensure the long-term success of the company. That includes planning for competition and rapid, widespread growth. The veneer of participation has been a sham all along because numerous individuals tried to get top management to actually listen to what we were saying about errors, inefficiencies, redundancies and just plain old ineptitude and poor planning/decision making. In other words, TMs have been more business-minded than management. And one of the most obvious deficiencies was the semi-autonomous regional structure itself, where the company had 12 different ways of doing a thousand different things. Having leadership bag groceries on a busy day is nice, but that's not what they're being paid to do. I'm sure there a few voices among the leaders who insisted that a proper infrastructure be put in place prior to doubling and tripling the number of stores, but they were obviously not listened to.

Wall Street does not appreciate "SELF PRAISE". Just hang in tight there, Nov 4th is just around the corner. Remember this is beyond leadership, it's about the changing business landscape.
