Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

For those who want to unionize- Why? What do you feel they can do for you? Strike for what? Just curious.

Union... Sure... Remember 2003? What happened then? Oh that's right, grocery strike. All because the union thought they knew best for the employees. I would rather deal with a restructure that will only affect a minimum of the work force than to force everyone to strike. By the way, as a member of a conventional grocery store in 2003. We were out on the lines picketing and only getting a third of our regular paycheck. While the union reps were still getting their big fat checks. What's the difference between our union rep and an STL getting a bonus? Seriously? And then when the strike was over all the employees had to pay unions dues for the months that we were picketing.

Unions are still the mafia. They don't belong in the grocery store there are more greedier than any Whole Foods big shot.

We provide yearly wage review in the form of Job Dialogs. Do you know how many people don't bother to turn theirs in when their term comes around, or wait for 2 years etc? Then they complain on their TL surveys that they aren't being compensated or reviewed.

they pay more per hour but expect way more out of you than conventional grocers(can you tell me if this is gluten free and kosher/")..and that transparency has a ceiling..or limit..ask your STL about his EVA bonus and see how he clams up...ask to see plans or money paperwork for team members in your store..or at the regional level..unions would make them come to a table and bargain with employees about changes in pay, hours, vacation and benefits(the few remaining)...its about more than a monetary amount but empowering your employee base versus paying lip service to that...and skip that corporate speak about "taking ownership of your dept."...blather..that has alway been a load of shit cooked up,while they set all labor budgets and the such to fit wall street projections..

I would say they are more transparent and pay higher wages than other grocers. So I'm not sure what you are talking about.

Because its logical. They've taken us for granted for a long time, but now, with them having drawn first blood, so to speak, its time for those who remain to fight back and speak out. This is an abuse of power that we can't ignore, we have the power and the means, now we must coordinate and ACT.

Please email me at WFUnion@Outlook.com if you want to discuss strategies and do some spit balling, the wheels are slowly going into motion, but once they get churning, Whole Foods will regret the day they decided to put profits ahead of people, and not just any people, the very people that made them what they are today. This is for everyone they just sucker punched!
