Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

I am a senior staff rest and vester. The rest of you minion whiners can suck my balls

I will rest and vest while you newer minions do the real hard work in QCT and get RIFed if the company has a slow down. Not my problem and not my concern. Too damn bad for you. Its like this in every industry. In Legal, partners make $$$$$ while paralegal and first year attorney gruts make $.. It's like this on wall street, when managing directors make $$$$$$ and analysts make $. And it's like this in medical where the practice owner makes $$$$$$ while the employee doctor makes $. Don't like it, too fvcking bad. Find a position that leads to a higher title and position . this will never change. This is how the system works everywhere.

Anonymous179406. Nice people always finish last. Look at those laidoff....You think those people laidoff were mean? The only thing thing that matters is which people that use you and which people you use.

the arrogance of some of you Q senior staffers is beyond description. At some point Q will be less relevant and you will have to beg a chinese ,manager at a place like huawei to hire you. I think selfish pricks like you give the honest, hard working Q people a bad reputation. As the company continues to downsize surely there will be many unhappy endings with careers and marriages destroyed. Be nice what comes around goes around.

Anonymous179216, The landscape looks great, for me at least. Again, it's not what you know. It's who you know. a lot of you low level engineer grunts have yet to learn this painful lesson.

Anonymous179369, yeah maybe when I'm 60. Not that it would matter. Meanwhile, you can stay unemployed for the next 20+ years.

179095: Before you get too cocky about being QC employees, you better look around current job landscape. Mobile skills is no longer in demand in US, except for by QC. Other IC companies are very selective. Only QC has a rampant old boys network. QC engineers have too narrow focus and often don’t have broad skills required by most IC companies.

Anonymous179068. Wrongo.. You see at startups, they need people like me. How else can they successfully farm out the easy work to low cost offshore people while guaranteeing quality without the need to hire so many domestic inexperienced young people that costs a lot to do the grunt work? I don't physically need to code. I just need to tell 8 people how to do it and piece it together without telling them how the entire system works. That way I still control the project while the offshore team has no clue on the entire design. Kind of like what I do now.

Anonymous179074. That is the dumbest bullshit thing a person with no hiring decision like yourself would say. The only reason why you wouldn't get hired (as in your case) is if your skills suck or you burned a lot of bridges and have a shitty reputation or both. Besides, the best jobs are the ones through referrals, not the idiotic ones that idiots apply through dice.com, indeed.com, etc. That's the worst way to find a job. But I guess if you don't have a reputation, what choice would you have? Oh well. That sounds like your problem

Qualcomm has a contentious relationship with the rest of the industry. Don't expect an easy path to employment if you are let go... Lots of us on the west coast would be happy to see Q crash and burn.

true, the lower your rank, the easier your job search, and x10 if you are former QC

When you are laid off, no one will ever higher you. Hiring Managers know many Q Sr staff are lazy, entitled pricks riding the gravy train. Meanwhile worker bees will have multiple offers as they can actually back up what they list on their resume. The old boys network is great until its not, and then you are f@@ked.
