Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Layoffs have to happen.

I have noticed admin at the university keeping pointing at activities (Being busy) but there is no productivity where new revenue streams are coming online. Cash is being burnt and not replaced. It is not going to be possible to keep the same size workforce. When is up to admin. As for the shareholder lawsuits, sure some posters say the admin can thumb its nose at "ambulance chasers" but as lawsuits mount up, this is bad for everyone. They will not go away. Either UOPX will evolve and get new revenue streams, unlikely in any meaningful timeframe, or it will simply cease to exist at some point.

@586-you write English like you likely "text". Please enroll in a local community college and take a remedial English composition course--you write English like a 6th grade kid. I bet you're another UOP graduate...er...purchaser of a fake degree. You're an embarrassment. Hardee's needs people in the fry-station like you. Apply today. LOL.

107- I get so fed up with the majority of comments from greedy, out of touch boomers who are too f***ing stupid to realize that back in the stone age when they attended the government was funding far more of the cost and jobs were far easier to get when they got done. There weren't even computers, screening software, or credit reports to deal with. It took 40 years of greedy republicans making a very thinly veiled attempt to ruin the middle class by slashing taxes on the rich, protecting their ability to offshore thousands of jobs at a time, and fighting any efforts to repatriate the income they made in the USA and hide overseas. Everywhere across this country roads and bridges are collapsing, millions are being made bankrupt by medical costs, housing costs, and education costs. Jobs are hard to find and if someone manages to line up the dozens of hoops to get one, the pay is shitty and the benefits are inadequate. Nobody can afford to start up a business anymore and if they do there are hundreds of vulture companies lined up to sue them out of existence as soon as they get a taste of success. America is collapsing day by day and it boggles my mind how few people can connect the dots and look at the big picture. The path we are on is unsustainable, both for predatory college as well as every other factor decimating the middle class. Maybe we deserve it, it is obvious at least 2/3 of our people are too greedy and too stupid to act in a manner that will preserve the republic and fight the crooks selling off our collective futures for pennies on the dollar.

  1. I agree with you. If you work for UOP you'd know that this is something that's been in the works for years. Getting corporations to fork up some of their wealth and give t back to their employees in a form of tuition assistance. They want skilled employees then pay for the skill.

Why anger. We will get new jobs. Your anger is affecting your behavior. Would you speak to your mother this way. When UoPX closes your anger will remain. Please get help.

The writing is on the wall as far as I'm concerned. I'm doing all I can to "stay busy" but there is only so much I can do with what I have. And it's really hard to keep showing up to work everyday and even pretending to give a damn when it's clear management doesn't give two shits about us or the students. Any day could be my last and I know that, all we can do is ride the train until it stops. I can't speak for everyone but if you're enrollment, finance or academics and you're not already applying for other jobs it's time to start hunnies.

WHO piled debt on who? People willingly took on debt, no one "piled" debt on anyone. You sound like a socialist asshole.

Free would be great, but really corporate america is who is demanding these massive credentials and experience to grant access to jobs that pay anything over minimum wage. Most of these companies have been turning double digit profits for 40 years straight and shafting both the worker and the taxpayer as part of the process. I think if anybody should be footing the bill for education in America it should be our massively wealthy corporations, not some teenager who has no assets and whose degree will be literally worthless if they haven't turned it into a related job within a few years.

On that note 551 why don't we just propose our wonderful government to make higher education free of cost like other countries.

It is as simple as this, you've spent decades piling mountains of debt on people who cannot afford to pay it and cannot file bankruptcy. Their entire lives are ruined for decades which is a tremendous motivator to burn down the institution that 'done you wrong'.
