Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

I've stopped showing up at work

Partly because I've been disappointed with my job/role to begin with, but also because I need time and privacy to look for a job. It's just too awkward to search for jobs and try to receive calls in my cube. So, I've been burning my sick leave while I search from home. At the same time I'm finding I've lost enthusiasm for analog design work or I should say I've lost enthusiasm for a job at a corporation. Yes, that's the real issue with me - corporations. A corporation is synonymous with clusterfuck. Who wants to be part of that? Not me.

My hobby is electronic music. OTA's (operational transconductance amplifiers) are used all over the place in EM design. Problem is that most of them are going EOL because the volumes have not been high enough for the older fabs that make them. CA3080... dead. LM13600...dead. SSM2164....dead.

If I had your skills I'd do a state of the art replacement for these and then get the $$ to back the effort. You aren't going to be the next Intel but you might be happy and paid decently.

Do you have enough expertise and experience to do consulting?

Qualcomm has became a toxic place, and it takes a little while to de-tox. But you will. Best of luck with whatever comes next.

Sell all of your Qualcomm stocks before you go. Good luck with job search.

Good plan; take care of yourself, not QC.

It is Qualcomm, not you, that is the problem. They have really messed up the company.
