XTO is no better organization, maybe the buy out befits its pitiful or croney careless management structure. Discriminators big league, pandering under the outdated EEO.

I notice that a couple of years after this initial post we haven't had the supposed 30% layoffs...

Another 38 employees lost their jobs at XTO/EXXONMOBIL on Friday. Crying shame how EXXONMOBIL has destroyed dedicated employees for XTO most of their lives since they have bought out the company. Firing employees within years of retirement or forcing them out with no good options. This Hugh oil company could have and definitely should have given full benefits and full retirement to those employees who had been their almostbto retirement but then again it was about the dollar figure AGAIN for EXXONMOBIL otherwise they would go back and correct it now! This has been going on for months and will continue. Very sad that EXXONMOBIL doesn't have the business ethics or integrity to do the right thing by employees and the children of their families.

It's also pretty bad when you get sold to CBRE, now making you a contractor where you were an employee for years, and then have to work at the same place as a contractor. The employees look at you differently, down their noses, and many treat you differently. Some people will retire in style while others of us will end up very differently due to this.

Yes it is happening. Majority of GREF has already been sold to CBRE for janitorial and maintenance work. When asked about it before it took place, long time supervisors told us it was just a rumor and not true. They lie to you. Crushing to have trusted co-workers lying also to save themselves. Very disappointing. Good Luck to the rest of XOM you may be next!

Because of the industry down turn, low performers are in extreme danger of seperation. Employees with retirement years and age and who might be C or below performers, are being offered the choice of 3 packages.

I worked for ExxonMobil for 27 years and they will layoff people in one form or another. They got me at 62 by walking me out on Monday morning at 6:30 am, but I can say they use to announce cut backs but not since the early 90's. I worked for URC for my entire career and it is the armpit of the company because I have seen so many walked out one at a time and just before your ranking and rating will plummet to the bottom 10%.

I got 4 patents and one month before I was walked out without a package I received the ExxonMobil President's Award! I always ranked in the top 10% and about 2 months after I was forced out I got an email informing me of a 6.5% pay raise, go figure.

I am 67 and I was around before the millennial generation and if you think you are safe or they will not let you go then you best be advised, it happens and I would strongly suspect this will be the worst I have seen since the 60's. I worked in the oil and gas industry from !966 before going in the military and going to Vietnam. I came back and started again in the oil industry and the embargo by OPEC in the early 70's reeked havoc on the oil business because Houston use to be considered the Oil Capital of the world. That is 45 yrs. - time served in S.E. Asia.

I am glad they walked me out because that are very devious and underhanded and now I don't even think about and I am enjoying my life and sitting back and watch it happen to everyone else that has never been through something like this. Good Luck PS. EM is not as transparent as you may think or led to believe.

Would it be worth applying for a job at Exxon. I still see job postings in IT and other jobs? Not wanting to give up stable job for Too much risk.

They cannot just target older employees, would be age discrimination. They are hiding this as poor performers. True, according to their ranking system, but don't kid yourself.

Not just them!!!!!! It's very hush hush. I know someone else (in their 40s) and not a low performer that got the package. Best package I have heard of by the way. But don't start feeling safe!!! The axe is coming, but it's happening in small increments so the WARN notice doesn't have to be posted.
