nationalinterest.com.au/files/ITF_Gorgon_final_draft.pdf ....................................I am surprised that very few people in Chevron know of this report. It's a year old and came out after Chevron blamed the cost blow outs to wages. Which are less than 1% of the cost of this project. I bet you wonder why you no longer here high wages are to blame....this report is the reason. Chevron had no response but immediately no more talk on wages. This report is scathing and we all have the exact same examples (different scenarios) in the last 10 years working with Chevron. The report is critical of Chevron not taking a leadership role to fix issues to get results rather than pointing fingers to blame.

What a stupid article, contracted by the marine workers union as scientific work. It is completely biased and based largely on anecdotal gossip from disgruntled workers. I hope they all get sacked. Australians are the only workers in the industry who can work 28 days without depression or suicide. Pathetic.
The Ugly Truth again you speak the truth. I think we are truly reaping what we sow. Ass kissing is frowned upon and quite frankly snuffed out in all other companies I know. But if your Peter you need reinforcement at every turn and strive on ass kissing.
The "Peter Principle" has a lot to do with it. Many people have been ascended to a level of incompetence. They may have been good contributors in their previous roles, but through time, some were elevated to positions that required a better-prepared person instead. I'm all for promoting employees from within, but not to the detriment of the company or business unit. Christ! Ass kissing and the Good Ole Boy system sure has reached a pinnacle in Chevron... and it is collecting its price.
Thanks friend for posting a link that works. I am trying get to get to better understanding of what mismanagement means. People say this all the time. Gorgon is the most mismanaged project. But what does that mean. What are the things Chevron needs to do to right the ship. To me it's admittingoing failure and owning it and fixing it. Our present culture for all of Chevron is blame. Leadership is about focusing on the issue and fixing it without blame but with results. I think this report highlights our present predicament. Am I off base? Am I not seeing something? But to me it's evident that we do not have a culture of doing but of processes and blame. No team and we can not call out incompetence in a professional way as it seems most of management is at there Peter principal and their ego becomes bruised as they know they are not competent. Peter rules in Chevron.
It's no secret that Gorgon is the most mismanaged project of at least the last decade. Chevron also vastly underestimated the cost and time needed to develop Gorgon even with effective management. Partners states from the very beginning that the project would cost more and take longer but we didn't want to hear it.
