Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Not tomorrow, but imminent

They have to meet a salary number. No clue how people will chose to get there.... but if you're highly paid (compare yourself to other industry NOT oil and gas) and you spend your time in meetings and doing bullshit.... get that resume in order...

the average salary in the US is under 40K...

Have a great weekend.

Median salary in the U.S. is $51,939... doesn't take a genius to use Google, which I suspect is more accurate than a random CHK'er's guess. On another note, I do hear from a more than reliable source that layoffs are "imminent, " so I thank everyone for their hard work and dedication and, if it is time for me to go, I thank the company for all it has provided me and my family. Sad, sad days for CHK and OKC.

What an idiot.... "If you earn more than the average US salary, AND you attend meetings, this means you will not have a job". Breaking news at this hour. Practically everybody who works in oil nd gas makes more than the average US salary. If somebody was say... a geologist making $370,000... I would expect them to be laid off. In the 2013 layoffs, they fired people who had been in positions a long time and made above average for that position. ie, a helpdesk guy making $90k. A secretary making $60k..

The average Chk employee salary is $60k. So pretty much everybody gets laid off according to your logic.

Maybe we can lease out buildings 6-15 to the DOC, turn it into a jail, and avoid the 1¢ sales tax increase for the next 5 years. Sounds like a win/win for all involved. They could even keep the restaurants open!

No he's saying CHK employees are overpaid. I can think of a few that make too much, but don't add any value at all!!

So you're saying they will run the company on people making under 40k? Burger flippin' ain't well drillin'. Good luck with that!
