Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

And the daggers keep coming.

Moved less than 2 years ago by Chrvron. Severance package states they will move me back. Now they say no assistance. Contract time was bridged for health and welfare eligibility date. Now they say that no longer applies. Working for Chevron has been an epic fail and extremely costly. Not to mention the stress that has taken years from my life and time from my family. The Chevron Way is the biggest lie I've ever been naive enough to believe.

This was not an implicit contract but an explicit contract. The stack of papers has the relo agreement in them. We could all fight this seperately but pooling resources together makes it a much more compelling case. Which would be settled faster imo. Not sure how to get on the same page though?

Move back why? Is this a TDA?

Looks like Chevron is reneging on their agreement. For those employees in this situation, I'd recommended that you retrieve the relocation papers you were given when you made the initial move. Some papers were informational and others you had to sign. Somewhere among those documents, unless you misplaced them, is the ammunition you need to flag in front of their faces. If they don't pay for your relocation back home, threaten them with a lawyer. Screw whatever agreement they have now. The agreement they made less than 2 years ago STILL STANDS.

So you are saying that they moved people and in many cases demanded they move and said don't worry we will move you back if something happens. And something happens and they say we changed our mind? This is the crazy ignorant shit that drives people to f up a work location. People get whacked for a lot less. I can't believe Chevron is that ignorant. I would wear a bullet proof vest to work I tell us! If they are going to lay those people off then f them again. I would be extremely worried of the consequences. I am going on disability for a knee operation. I do not want to be in or near a Chevron Facility.

Going to leave a lot of people high and dry. People who made sacrifices and commitments to Chevron and were then dumped in a new area to fend for themselves. Never thought Chevron was that kind of company.

So sad to read through the comments. I understand there has to be layoffs. I get it. However, whatever happened to "Human" in "Human Resources?" They should be fighting for the employees. Just do the right thing by these employees. Give them they packages, treat them with dignity, let them leave with their pride. Not helping them with their relocations? Really? Making them apply for their own jobs.. Really? I wonder if the executive who approved this program truly thought it through. Just do the right thing by your employees as you are asking them to apply for their own jobs as you are going to this downsize. Forget the laws and HR . Just do the right thing by employees and maybe when you need them to return, they will.

I think there is a distinction being made between new hire relocations and current employee relocations.

Check the ROM website FAQs on July 28 states "US payroll employees who are terminated under SESP and relocated (with company assistance) to their current location within 2 yrs of their termination date may be eligible for the Special Relocation Program in conjunction with the SESP". One week later this FAQ was removed entirely. I asked our HR rep Why? Was told the SRP was not approved! More lost credibility to this process as what's stated can easily be retracted or removed entirely! Good luck with the rest.

The rules are very clearly written. However my HR rep says they are not doing what is written. No relocation assistance and severance is what it is. What they write on paper is apparently a 'guideline'.

Get HR to answer that question. The rules or policy will be found in the Employee Relocation Policy. You may even find it online among the Corporate HR documents.

I'm in the same boat - but they haven't told me either way on my relocation. Wording says if you moved in the two years prior, they will help move you back. It sounds like this doesn't happen. Where were you able to get the info as nobody will answer me at Chevron?
