Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

I am massively depressed. Can't focus at anything at work. Glancing at the screen all day... Don't know how to get from this stage. Help

144126: That's just it: SM just doesn't seem to get the fact that when you do sh*t like this to your employees, no one cares about what's good for the company, anymore. That incentive was gone when people discovered that QCOM was PIP-ing people to avoid paying severance or WARN-Act requirements.

Try vigorous walks and if you are truly depressed a visit to psycologist is a good thought by prior poster. Change or loss of job are big events but you are not alone. Try to Think of it as a new adventure and embrace the opportunity to move to something new and exciting.

If you lose a job, there are other jobs. Many times years later people are glad because they ended up better off.

This too shall pass. All things change. Roll with it.

visit a psychologist, asap. This can be totally anonymous in case you don't want to involve your family.

Trusts in God and then lower your performance, just do what you can for the day, focus on your future and prepare for the next move. Qualcomm is not the end, there are many good companies out there.

If you truly have a toxic job get out as soon as you can!

It is not easy, but losing a job is not the end of the world. I expect engineers to find other employment without much difficulty. If QC pays severance and one can find another job, the total income for 2015 may be higher than before. Alternatively one can take few weeks off using part of the severance money.

Why can't you just obey the mandate from SM: "don't speculate" and "this is good for the company"

I feel the same way. Spent most of my Friday today looking at tge clock, counting down the minnutes. It is hard knowing "the list" is out there already. Saw the HR lady in our execs offices this week. We all know it's coming down. How does management expect us to concentrate? These next two weeks will ve the pitts.
