Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Chevron considering locking out workers and bringing in new work force.

If this happens put a pin in it! There is no way to accommodate the new workers first off and just to onboard and train it will be months. And after months they won't be ready. They are seriously talking about bringing in flotel Europa. EVERYONE just cringes to even think about how bad Chevron screwed this up logistically last time. With Legionnaire in the air conditioner. The rooms were not set up, life boats were not sufficient and I can go on and on......The Paki PM who screwed up the first floatel....Exxon called him the worst PM in the known profession.....was given the task again. If a strike occurs add 6 months additional time. If Chevron tries to lock out the union it will never be completed. Two years or longer. Every PM is looking for a new job and they are available with an incredible number of Natural Gas Power plants being built in the states. And of course only the competent PM's will get a job the rest will stay on this project.

Sitting at Gorgon I was at Gorgon putting in that MEG tanks. I think you understated how bad Chevron has treated the labor on this project. Chevron is not leading any work and letting relying on the crew chiefs to make decisions. It is bad.

The unions have tried to negotiate this for 18 months. There is an incredibly high depression and suicide rate. Chevron ignored this as they thought they would be done and finished. The only reason their nuts are in a vice is because of Chevrons poor leadership. Chevron can't manage and there is no way they bring in a new group. They can't manage that change. Sitting at Gorgon has been clear that this all goes on Management. He is there and reasonable so I will go with his opinion.

Bust the unions when your 6 months away from completin. It's Chevro' s job to bust unions and worry about Australian Macreconomics. Shut the f*** up idiot. Chevron is in this predicament not from labor but from horrendous management. Maybe we should bust the management!

Chevron should absolutely shut down the striking workers and bust the unions. Gorgon and Wheatstone will be the better for it, as will the general Australian economy. Unions are just killing the business climate for that country which has such thin economic prospects and a recession could be devastating.

Heard the same thing today mate. That project is doomed. The person I know left in July to build a power plant just like you said! This is a huge black eye again for Chevron. Many are worried it won't be ready when it is finished from all of the changes. It's a true worry that when the "Flip the Switch." nothing happens.
