Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The "Way Of The Weasel", my friend,... the way of the weasel. Not saying Chevron's loaded with more weasels than any other outfit, but will say I've never witnessed as MANY weasels in any of the other (four) energy companies I've worked in, as I have in Chevron. To ME, Chevron has basically "de-nutted" the male segment of it's workforce via it's incessant beating of the Diversity drum. I know of no one I work with whom I believe to be overtly racist, misogynistic, homophobic, or otherwise inclined to be hostile towards anyone else based SOLELY upon their race, sexual orientation, gender, etc. Yet,... Management and HR have allowed, maybe intentionally (I've wondered), for these differences between people to attract more attention, increasingly become the basis for complaints of alleged hostility, discrimination, or any other perceived "mis-treatment" that comes down the pike, to the point that the company seems incapable of assessing "real" contribution, on an individual basis, without these factors coming into play. The result: A seemingly arbitrary, highly subjective, cowardly and non-confrontational pall has settled upon the entire enterprise. Oddly enough, we're watching those same methods being employed, these days, throughout our Federal Government, and unless you're blind or simply don't care, it should be obvious that it leads to an Alice In Wonderland, almost surrealistic cesspool of mealy-mouth platitudes and disjointed results. Voila! I GIVE YOU,... THE CHEVRON OF TODAY.
