Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Momentum beginning to wain.

I've been trolling this place for some time now, more out of morbid curiosity than necessity, and have seen topics range from fairly legit to outright bizarre. Human beings are interesting creatures as they tend to act more like flies than birds when presented with a big pile of crap: they run to it rather than away from it. They then swarm all over it and relish it, make it stink worse than it does, and make it appear a bigger turd than it really is. Then, as it starts to decompose, they disperse, to only later repeat the process over again with a fresh new turd. All the while screaming DOOM, DOOM, DOOM IS COMING, or more appropriately "the sky is falling".

It's also entertaining/interesting how the posts began as anger laced rhetoric intellectually presented by intelligent beings to screaming, tantrum throwing, feces flinging primates that reside in the White House and Congress. So all of the smiling in the office and posh "how do you do's", eating meals with dignity one bite at a time as if it makes one look healthy, formal greetings, and overly pathetic demonstrations embracng each other's views at diversity rallies is simply one thick and creamy layer of sweet frosting evenly spread to hide the great big pile of scorpions that lie just beneath...just waiting for the right person/place/thing to come along and scrape it away.

So now that nothing new has happened in a few days, this board is showing signs of getting bored, tired even. Nothing new to swarm over so let's make stuff up to keep it going; not working though. The turd is decomposing, the flies are trickling away until another juicy turd is dropped here and the process repeats.

You all make me sick; you want so badly for a disaster to occur so you can continue this media frenzy like rampage. Get a life, find something constructive to do, join a club, help a charity, or if its that bad leave the planet. But shut the f up bashing our company because you lost out, we all lose out, it's called life; there is no good life, there is no bad life, just life. And it's what you make it. No one owes you or me anything. Stand around whining and sooner or later you get punched in the mouth. Go do something meaningful but please shut the f up if you can't post anything other than the same stinking turd paste you've been posting because it's gotten real old and doesn't stink anymore. And if you don't like what your manager is doing by all means stop being pussies by hiding behind this board, grow some gonads and go confront him/her face to face, then come post it otherwise we don't want to hear it anymore.

Anonymous 145217 Miley Cyrus has a large and engaged following. The belief that number of viewers is a measure of validity is a logical fallacy.

It’s hilarious reading this. . People say we are very process oriented (maybe in the field, but not in the office). I call shenanigans. We talk about it but don’t execute. We might write something down and it goes through months of iterations (because every tom, dick, and harry needs to put in their 2 cents), then it’s filed away never to be looked at again. It’s never used to train the new guy or to hold people accountable for doing the work right. Lack of documentation on how things are supposed to work (technical documentation, support docs, process docs, etc.) - Overly complex and over documented processes. People just like to see the words on paper. - Almost impossible to train new people, have cross functional teams, transition work, or successfully backfill for someone who is out - Spend most of phase 1 & 2 of projects trying to figure out what the heck the current process, support model, etc. actually is. - Taking months to document the most simple things - No standards for documentation (PPT is not a documentation tool damnit) - No evergreen processes to keep documents up to date - Running around like chickens with their heads cut off when audit comes and we can’t find any documents and have to rewrite everything from scratch - Technical people, while good at their job, can’t document what their job actually is or what they do Fixing poor document management with more tools (eDocs, SharePoint, Documentum) that don’t actually fix the problem they just put it in a new application, and never fully get rid of the old one. There is a complete lack of responsibility and accountability for documentation, that is what needs to be fixed. Work in silos with nobody talking to each other. Nobody knows what they do or what anyone around them does. The me me me attitude of not sharing information for fear of giving away your expertise and not having a job. You should have already lost your job. The “our BU is different and can’t do it the way they do”. Bullshit, 80-90% of what every BU does is exactly the same. We’re an O&G company not GE with 50 million different businesses. The white glove approach to anyone above PSG 23. The inability to give PMP feedback about our bosses (I’ve had 1 or 2 good bosses that did solicit this information, good for them). Trying to get something done over months instead of getting everyone together and f-ing doing it. I blame management for not making sure people know their roles and responsibilities and not making them accountable for deadlines (or not even setting deadlines). The Chevron Yes. Speak up of GTFO. Someone make goddam decision and hold the team accountable for it.

OP I am with you, as long as people like you post here items with substance (regardless if I agree with them or not), this board will have future. Otherwise, it's just spam and whining and nobody has interest in that. So, keep it up OP, we, the intelligent, salute you.

This is the OP and, except for a few of you that responded like adults that don't carry their feelings on their shoulders, the rest of you took the bait and proved a HUGE point which is when given the opportunity the majority of Chevron employees throw enormous amounts of creative energy at something as completely mind-numbingly stupid, and of no value, as this post is because you got "offended" by something that means absolutely nothing in your life. Instead you chose to make childish points rather than focus on the important things posted on this site that touch upon people losing wages, poor management skills/nepotism/negative economic impact/families without lights, so forth. I created this turd post to draw out the flies in the hope that it was only a few who were making such dim-whitted remarks elsewhere and am I so disappointed in the outcome. I'm not better than any of you nor you than me, but I do try to conduct myself in a manner higher than a snarling dog, and to my point, this website is infested with them. Just look at the responses on this thread, and you wonder why our company is in the shape it's in? If this is a sample of the bigger picture, no wonder our ship is foundering. Just remember when you point a finger at someone else on the next post three more are pointing back at you. I'm done here so your responses are moot.

So those of you with childish, immature responses go and look at what you've written. You

Wow, all this talking from a bunch of chevroids and no one has made the connection between layoff rounds and the activity on this board. Give it a few days and see the boards light up like the OPs mom at a Pimps and Hoes convention. I would imagine that people post during their round, RAE and R1 saw lots of posts and as we head into R2 we will see more activity from new posters. Yes I am sure their are a few return customers that use this board as a cheap therapy session but similar to the OP this board has lots of uncles just passing through during their session. And as a point of opinion I could not disagree with the OP anymore. We all want to believe that hard work is the end all be all but at Chevys there is more emphasis on who know than what you do. In my short 15 years at Chevys I have seen amazing WORKERS lose out to better NETWORKERS and in these layoffs there will be good workers let go but I promise you this, those good networkers will be safe.

OP needs to change the tampon and come out the shadows instead of hiding behind the keyboard.

I'm sure there are some good shrinks the Chevron helpline can put you in touch with to deal with your obvious childhood rooted mental and anger issues.

To Anonymous144951: I can appreciate how difficult it must be for such a smart and above-it-all individual (as yourself) to live in a world populated by us third-raters. Yes, a sorry bunch we be. However, allow me to offer, in addition to sympathy, some advice: go away.

Anonymous145049, this is the OP; to your post you are absolutely correct and that is the point I was trying to make...drop a turd here and the flies swarm. But I'm not the fly...I'm the asshole that formed the turd. Mate!

Dude do you expel this much energy at your job. Thousand of views on these threads and half dozen responses by different folks. Yet you have posted 3 times on your thread....Your trying to prove a point and the point is you. I agree with you as fear makes people act irrationally but you're the fly mate and your post is the turd.

You should have, you might not be groveling for sunlight under the big pile of corporate rejects right now. Please post more and keep entertaining me and everyone else.

this is exactly what I was writing about. Anonymous144979 you are the quintessential representation of my OP; if you know so much about cash flow, income statements, and balance sheets yourself then why haven't you been put in a position to lead us to the promised land? Well, as evidenced by your posting you are as inept as the very people everyone is screaming about, I'd give you a medal but you need a chest to pin it on. As far as me being a nerd you are way off by a huge margin which adds another confirmation that you are a moron. and thank you for your concern over my sex life but no need because I got laid this morning before work...did you (your hand doesn't count)?

To Anonymous144981 and 114962 , thanks for the kudos, but it's really sad that people like 144979 once resided at our company. Great news is they have reached their level of pseudo-functionality and have been flushed out. I'm sure the next bit of postings like his/hers will be as blazing with intellectuality.

LOL, you say get a life, yet want to portray yourself like an intellectual and post on a layoff board.....your analogy of flies, turds the white house just does not get it done F off nerd boy. Stop bashing our company? Well nerd analogy boy, tell me some good news. Dorks like you want to tout "our company". If you can not see this place is totally broke you should not join a club or charity.....you need to understand leadership and basic business. Study up on cash flow, income statements, and balance sheets. This is the quiet before the storm. 1/4 of my BU will be gone in OUR company nerd analogy boy. So go drink a protein shake, and get on a lifting regime so your picked last in gym class ass, does not need to be a tough guy on a layoff board. You wonder why you can't get laid.....just reread your wanna be intellectual post and act 180 degrees and you may get blown once a year. Until then, STFU with flies instead of birds.....and scorpions...and the whitehouse/congress......f me in the ass, you are truly the NERD ANAOLGY BOY. Your dismissed and ignored turd flies scorpions.....totally what is wrong with this place.

I agree with the OP... This board is growing tired as people post or comment nothing but useless dribble. Sharpen your brains, people, and put only comments of value on this site. It doesn't matter if it's positive or negative, just make the information you have useful to someone else. If you can't contribute, then just read and learn something.
