I think it is very important to understand there is no PDC's scheduled. This means if you can't get a job in the ROM your shit out of luck. Every sing BU and support function is cutting at least 1 out of 4 positions. So if there was a PDC there would be 3000 applicants for 3 new job openings. You see my point here. This is no longer.....oh I will just get a job in Nigeria, or I will call my old supervisor for a position. There are no jobs my fellow Chevronites.

They are honoring all promised positions from last year's interns I do believe (they don't want to reneg on those contracts with the university recruiters) but future internships will be scarce, but they will keep hiring. Just not as many as before. ( I have a reliable source)

Will GOM take any new hires from the intern selections or university's? May be a stupid question just wondering if my position may be filled by a youngster.

The new GOM Org chart will be out soon enough. Just know that it will only require 3 pages, not 4. Yes, it's a 25% reduction.

I have been with Chevron for 37 really great years… I didn't go in the first round, my evaluation was not in the scope… I am hoping to receive a retirement package, but the word out there is that won't happen either.. not sure what will happen… but to all of you that outcome was not favorable to you, I wish you the best of luck in what is to come. I was lucky enough to get hired at a very young, so age wise I still am not ready to go, but if they offered the option with the severance I would certainly really strongly consider it. This is my 5th layoff that I have been through. As far as layoffs go this one is really out of the box…. Needless to say in 37 years I have met some really great people… I hope in the end we can all come out of this for the better.

What is RIF?

— Anonymous144986 I believe you are correct. I asked a person who would know and he said that no moves would be made until Houston is finished. Then a few months for the ROM and a few months for results and then severance. So we at least got 4-5 months. The person who would know said it will happen over the holidays and expects layoffs to not hit until late January early February. This is his opinion but he gets this stuff correct. He also used the words "Shell Shocked" to describe the RIF. Not good!

Yes, I was asked to make more cuts? I just don't get i though. I interface with a young kid from BCG and no one from Chevron leadership. Make cuts on what strategy. Less activity, no more MCP initiatives, short term increase in cash flow? I get blank stares when I ask what is the strategy of the layoff because there is no strategy. The reorganization is from a MBA org book from a Harvard MBA class. I know that because I was told that! When I asked, where did you get the new organization from, I got a very confident "My blah blah blah class from Harvard". All of that being said, I expect the charts to be approved and go out after the layoff in Houston. Covington is going to be hit hard, more than the 20-25% I was anticipating. I don't know the number and maybe it will be 25%, but sending back an already brutally empty org chart does not sit well with me.

Between Shell and chevron making cuts, the northshore here in LA will take a huge hit on the real estate market. Talked to a realtor last week (I got cut from shell and we only moved here for that job) and she told me that because of the layoffs we are looking at a 10% decrease on home values. We just keep getting screwed!!!

You will know how bad it is when you see the houses going up for sale.
