Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Left Standing

For those who have begun the ROM process is there a checkbox for Left Standing. Also exactly what does Left Standing mean? I am interested in requesting the opportunity to be Layed Off/Retire.

More like a handshake with dog shit all over it. Golden if you are able to walk away with more than $1MM and retire.

"Left standing" happens when they are not able to assign you to any open positions. Typically anybody whose position is going to be eliminated will be given chance to participate in ROM, and if he/she doesn't get anything, that is when the person is designated "left standing" and given a golden handshake.

Yes, the ROMs are not conducted the same way. If they don't screw you on the first round, they will try harder to screw you on the next.

In Houston it's not that simple. If you are in scope you must post for 4 positions and be willing to accept any other position offered at your PSG level otherwise you are deemed to have resigned on your own choosing and get NOTHING! You best get closer to the source that is running your ROM. PS another thing no two ROMs are exactly alike! Good luck!

Yes if your job is no longer there and because the PDC has been cancelled for the fall and spring you can just sit there, smile and take the package. And I agree it is a shame that people have to come to this board to get information on a life change this big. Many HRBP's are also lacking detailed knowledge that would be expected. They are also very busy with the layoff and are overwhelmed so many can't get back to people in a timely manner.

I'm surprised your supervisor hasn't explained everything to you. Ask your supervisor or get a hold of your HRBP. If you know for sure you are "left standing", your supervisor should be able to answer all your questions. I was left standing in a ROM back in January. I am now retired from Chevron and got everything Chevron promised in the severance plan, including getting paid for my used vacation and collecting unemployment benefits from the state.

The 2 previous posters are correct. Congratulations. You need not do anything. You will receive the severance plan.

In a ROM, the term, "Left Standing" means your current job position is no longer available. You are eligible to post for a job in the PDC (if you qualify), else you will be terminated for lack of work. You are not obligated to post in the PDC, and you will qualify for the Chevron severance plan.

Left standing? Remember the old childhood game where chairs were placed in a circle, the music played and around and around you went. When the music stopped, you ran for a chair. The person left standing was out of the game. In this case, you are out of a job position.

My guess is you are not eligible, otherwise you'd know the answer.... just saying.

Visit the ROM website or talk to your PDR. There is absolutely no reason you should be visiting websites like this for these answers.
