That article is wrong. It is 25% so its worse! The managing partner (Our Boss) met with us on Monday and said we are having a cash flow emergency and a reduction of 25% in staff will be needed. He is actually a good guy and said "Use me as a reference if you like. I will support you in anything you want! " He understood the timing could not be worse....strike on Friday, team together for the most part to finally kick this over the goal line and you come out and say 1 out of 4 of you will be fired and there is no strategy of who! There is now a rush for the door. And the boss's words came to test today. 3 PM's put in there two week notice and he was very kind and was happy for them. So the situation here, is we are construction professionals working in the oil industry. Several months ago several of Chevrons key PM's left over dissatisfaction of this project and went to China to work on the Changjiang nuclear power plant in Hainan. China is on a mass construction program to get dozens of plants built and or course need PM's. So these guys are cheery picking the best from Gorgon......which will leave the duds to see this through. You can not make this stuff up! I am heading to Hong Kong for an interview on September 17th. Wish me luck and I am practicing my Chinese....ni hao peng you!

Excerpt.. Chevron is fast-tracking a radical downsizing of its Australian cost base with plans to cull hundreds of positions in Perth before the end of this year.

It is understood Chevron Australia managing director Roy Krzywosinski told his senior management team about a week ago to come up with savings of up to 20 per cent across the three key divisions — Gorgon and Wheatstone project teams and the corporate office.

It is shaping as the biggest wave of job cuts yet since Chevron this year flagged the transition from builder of more than $US83 billion of LNG projects to Australia’s biggest producer of liquefied gas.

Since then there have been at least two rounds of job culls — in April and in June — though Mr Krzywosinski’s latest missive is understood to be the biggest yet.

Accelerated because of a sub-$US50 a barrel oil price that is causing Chevron global grief, the exact size of this round of cuts is unclear. Speculation has focused on between 200 and 400 positions, figures Chevron would not comment on.

It is today's date, seems relevant to me! Yes they will have a RIF.

Did you check the date on the article? This is old news and talks about transitioning in workforce from building a LNG plant to operating one. This is nothing like what is happening in the U.S. in Houston, Covington, Bakersfield, etc.
