Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Let's do the math - more than 1800?

Did COP's letter to the press intentionally understate headcount cuts? So far, we've heard of 600 in L48, 400 in Canada, 200 in Alaska. So that's 1200 In BUs. Will there only be 600 cut in corporate staffs? Seems low when the whole point was to move to a decentralized model.

I don't know why they are still maintaining expat with no business critical need in corporate office (especially in SC) meanwhile they're going to cut local employees..

You have only factored North America. What about numbers for the rest of the CP folio? Could be more than 1,800. The 10% was just a benchmark number.

The numbers still do not add up. The number of employees is not correct prior to the first layoff or after the last layoff.

Well, considering a decentralized model would likely require duplicate jobs in different locations, those people have to come from somewhere.

I don't think you can add it up that way. 600 in L48 and 500 in Houston. There is a big population of L48 in Houston so they will overlap I think. Business units are telling people the number but don't specify the locations. The announcement about Houston said at least 500 too so who knows how many really. Smoke and mirrors about transparency

600 is actually not low for the corporate. How many corporate employee are there in total?

An 1/8th of the employees were terminated before the layoffs began in April.
