Could people in different parts of the globe update us fellow Chevroids? Angola, Venezuela, Nigeria, thailand, Indonesia, Australia, Kazakstan, Kuwait, UK, Norway, Russia, China, Canada, Singapore? My apologies if I have left out any... Share with us how you have been affected the current situation.

the perks for expats- Canadians, Aussies, Brits, etc - are a bit out of control. Some of these people still remain on expat payrolls for ten years or more. Wassup with that? And how many of you CVX bloggers know about the retention bonuses? I know several really excellent Canadian colleagues who received Calgary based retention bonuses- big chunks of money - for many years. What's the thinking behind paying someone in San Ramon a Canadian retention bonus?
There are many from Canada, UK, Kazakstan, to name a few,who are here in the US for many years as expats. Chevron pays them a ton of allowances all tax-protected. On an after tax basis, it is almost double your salary or more. And many of them work even less than the non-Expats. Life is great whenever you are an expat and whereever you are an expat. In fact that is the only way to make money inChevron.
Expat life is always fun with a lot of extra money and comforts. US is where all the pain is!
Chevron Way in KRI, no cuts. We have a staff of 100+ to drill one well in a year
No layoffs in Singapore. Hope y'all commute to downtown Houston is getting better
No change in TCO. Life is good here and expat premium is great !
I got a meeting with the Bobs.
Norway, no layoffs
What would ya say ya do here?
Watch 1998 "Office Space" and welcome to the Houston ROM. It is amazingly accurate!
Anonymous146288, your suggestion to watch "Up in the Air" is excellent. My layoff meeting with HR and my supervisor (who remained silent) was just as sterile, scripted and cold as in the movie!
Kuwait is a mess. Wafra still shutdown. Most expats gone or leaving soon. Chevron still paying some people expat premium to sit in Houston. Won't be easy for displaced expats to find work in other areas due to global slowdown.
Aberdeen went through its ROM in October 2014.
they should watch the movie : " Up in the Air " so they will have some training
