Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

What Weatherford product line would you get rid of?

Be honest, reasonable, civil and specific? To save Weatherford, What product line is dead weight and needs to go? And WHY?

Replace all executive Managment.

Give them absolutely nothing except their worthless stock.

Completions would be the best choice they would actually get something for it and there is not much left for Blanten Breedlove and Swift to screw up. They took care of that when they took out the Permian and the Rockies so they could have their way

Easy to guess when you do not have the facts. Frac is an easy target however the seperation cost needs to be considered, sometimes it's less expensive to keep. Only frac company out there in L48 perhaps breakng even in this market is HES, and they are likely taking a hit as well. It is good for a laugh to read these post for the majority of folks that have never had to decide what is needed now vs. what will be needed in the future. Shortsightedness is something this board seems very good at along with those attempting to get a rise out of anyone they can.

Frac.....They have the potential to out earn everyone, but they don't. They may bring in 12 million in a single month, but it cost them 14 million to operate that month as well.. Hundreds of millions have been invested into Frac in the hopes it would take off, but they just can't seem to get it off the ground.

SLS in US. Margins low to negative..mom and pops during this down turn always pick up since the corporate laden mudlogging companies overhead eats away the bottom line. High end services are in little demand since US operators are looking for price.

Rig count determines utilization.

Maybe we should look at job postings. They will hire if they are busy. Layoff if they aren't.

yes, wireline and test. especially given the R&D dynamic, R&D is after all a classic overhead function, keep the positions closest to actual revenue, and not the intent or hopes that a fantastic new widget will come out of the group while there is no other work going on, hell look at the track record. nothing in the last several years? nothing in the upcoming two, why should anything change? maybe the talent pool needs a cleansing.

Petroleum Consulting Services has NEVER had a profitable year. SHUT IT DOWN. Weatherford was very late into the business, and customers find it difficult to respect let alone use Weatherford PCS. There are some good nuggets in the PCS group the the "Consulting" portion has been a complete failure.

I've heard fracking has been a colossal failure. I saw countless fracking trucks parked (and left to rust) in San Antonio. A service guy told me our customer service was so terrible we lost all our business.

Please Note: In making decisions about non core business, Be careful to understand your geographical areas, It is these non core product lines

that help to support in slower times core business. Together geographically they are both important to customers and Weatherford survival.

In my humble opinion we have had to cut back across the board, If we are to position ourselves for future growth and stability

until then, We should know focus on importance of the needs in geographical area's at least to the point non core is a burden and not profitable.

If we cut our finger off (Non core that has margins to support core) we are not looking to our future. We do however have to make difficult choices

to do the right thing, But instead cutting non-core across the board. What is not profitable non-core in one are, Is very important in another, We really need

to know the numbers and truly know the value it brings to our customers and Weatherford alike. Instead of thing being decided across all of Weatherford should know be evaluated for the value non-core brings to the table geographically in a more evaluated calculated way (Crunch the numbers, and the value it brings to our customers)

More wireline and fishing and rental companies are popping up everywhere. There is so much competition in thise markets. Frac might be ine to look at. Seems they arent doing much and cost so much to operate.

Wireline, & Testing. Both product lines have been shopped by Weatherford before with no takers as an outcome. Leadership has been inconsistent, VERY high overhead, along with R&D costs which have a long lifespan to show a ROI. Long term employees have been jumping ship. All negative, with very little upside.
