And if you find one you are competing with EVERYONE that got laid off plus the 5000 new grads that can't find jobs! U will work ur resume like a full time job, with little to no prevail. It's the 1989s all over again. This industry is and always will be cyclical. There are a ton of spoiled people who haven't seen a downturn before - well get over yourself and realized you picked a very volatile industry and you take your chances with this business ! It's not only CHK that is going to have to right size to survive but EVERY oil company. It AINT personal - Its business.

The economy is pretty much in a recession. Unemployment is far from low. Don't listen to the current Administration about that. Fact is that far more people have given up looking for jobs, and they are no longer counted against the Unemployment %.
While the market for O&G specific jobs does in fat suck right now, keep in mind the economy is doing well. Unemployment is low, and you'll likely be able to make ends meet until commodity prices begin to normalize. Sorry to hear about those who have lost their jobs, as Geoscience is highly specialized for the OG industry. You likely knew that when you declared a major in college. Best of luck with the search!
