Yes, totally agree. We don't have to read articles, although they can provide insight. And they don't have to written by an analyst. We can all look at where oil prices have been since July 1 and know that Q3 earnings will be UGLY. BODs will have to show some evidence to large scale investment firms how their company is going to weather the storm and oprerate profitably moving forward. Its that simple. Here are your numbers, your company is not delivering value for our dollar, tell us why we shouldn't sell all (most likely the remaining portion) of our investment in your company now. Oh a 4% dividend when the stock price is being hammered with no end in sight.

Leadership will have to reply with significant and quickly impactful improvement strategies to the bottom line or the market capitalization will evaporate. People will go home in large numbers. No way to avoid it.

Don't be such a closed-minded "link please" turd who's very existence depends on O&G prices. Be prepared to utilize the skills and talents that you learned in college and your valuable experience that you developed at "link please" CVX in the real world and quite whining like 8% match entitled millennials. The "link please" real world doesn't work like that. You don't get all the cushy benefits of a major, your salary is not guaranteed and your job is not either.

I like the "link please" turd comment and all the "you are all idiots" comments. They are all correct. How sad and pathetic is it with your degrees, talent and experience that your livelihoods are tied to the price of one commodity. Think about it. Most folks think the price of oil dropping is a good thing for society. Not me, like you, it makes for a better paycheck. But it doesn't own me. Don't let it own you. Or your cushy entitled job at CVX that you happened to be fortunate to get that you should be grateful for instead of throwing a hissy fit at the thought of a layoff that a lot of us have been through countless times in history and learned to accept it, deal with it, changing jobs/roles/positions/salaries/benefits as required. It helps you to grow and you will be better off because of it, which you will realize only later when you are an ol' fart too.

And if you don't believe this go to "linkplease"@linkplease".com and read it yourself!!! Thanks for reading.

Link? Jeez are you in third grade? Read an energy related business article once in a while, or how about several each day if you want to know what the the hell is going on in the oil industry. Chevron will have a horrendous third quarter, unless somehow we can book billions from recent asset sales to offset the miserable performance which is coming. Make no mistake energy compaines worldwide will have their asses handed to them in October once the financials come in for Q3 2015. Wall street will run for the hills and exit in droves, despite dividend retention for those who can pull it off. Layoffs will skyrocket in Q4 2015 and Q1 2016. Save your personal earnings and prepare for major shake up in the ranks off all oil based businesses. The ax man cometh.

If OPEC cuts production then US producers will ramp up production rightaway and pick up the slack quickly. OPEC producers will end up losing market share. Period. OPEC influence would be at best a short term psychological threat amounting to a temporary 5 dollars.

14811 is correct but forgot one other factor. The impact OPEC decisions have on the market. While OPEC does not have the impact they once had they still impact the price . OPEC can manipulate the price of oil at most 10-15 dollars in either direction. I don't see OPEC changing anytime soon with the Saudis calling all the shots the rest of the collision is hurting worse than CVX. Also there are two different blends of gasoline that are sold in the US A summer and a winter . The winter blend is cheaper to produce. And on the note of driving demand, this has a very small impact on price and is only from the U.S. .

30-40 range is realistic. Perfect storm clouds are gathering.

Anyone can go to Yahoo Finance, Wall Street Journal, or any of the other finance websites and read what analysts are saying. Or they can watch Bloomberg, Fox Business or CNBC to hear what they say. The macroeconomic analysis is out there on a daily basis. Basically you have three or four key things that will drive oil lower: end of summer driving demand, refinery turnarounds whereby they will not be buying crude and stock piles will rise, potential interest rate hike making dollar stronger and resulting oil price then has to be lower, and Iranian oil soon hitting the market increasing supply. You must be living in an igloo if you do not already know this and have to ask for a link.
