Canada dismisses Chevron appeal in Ecuador rainforest case

TORONTO (AP) -- The Supreme Court of Canada on Friday dismissed an attempt by oil giant Chevron to block Ecuadorian villagers from using an Ontario court to collect billions in damages over rainforest pollution.

The 7-0 ruling allows the case to proceed.

The lead attorney for the plaintiffs, Pablo Fajardo, said the ruling "isn't just any triumph. We've won in a country that is among the most credible in the world for its judicial transparency."

so they just keep suing Chevron in other countries after the courts in Ecuador AND the U.S. have already dismissed the lawsuits as fraudulent and the lead attorney for the plaintiffs admitted bribing judges and ghostwriting their opinions ?

This type of situation is not unique to Chevron. Get over yourselves. In fact , CVX has a better track record internationally from an HSE standpoint than any other major. Why is this on the Layoffs forum? Nothing to see here. Move along peeps.

Another issue that could complicate the whole mess for Chevron.
