Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

CVX vs. XOM

I find it interesting and revealing that although XOM has begun layoffs, it's the CVX employees that seem to be doing a far greater amount of sniveling and complaining. I guess that is a reflection of the people CVX hires. COP is laying off and their employees are almost on par with CVX sniveling.

XOM not laying off...at least not yet. Stop making trouble low-life.

Our current malaise is partly the consequence of having politically correct non executive directors with no O&G experience appointed to the Board by the CEO. They have abrogated their duty to shareholders and allowed Watson and Kirkland to run rings around them. Time the Chairman and CEO roles were split and a non-exec Chairman of the board elected by shareholders.

XOM is laying off. My good friend is a manager and he has already layer off employees ...... Oh and there severance is much less then what CVX is offering. He was shocked when I told him what the DWEP RAE people received. The only problem I see is that the life boats in the company where work is continuing to happen are taking on a lot of people from groups that are cutting jobs, this will eventually sink the life boats.

Anonymous 148755- you could not have stated it any better!!! I believe that with these crazy stressful times, sometime we cope with it with dark humor. Some comments on here are absolutely rude but the for the most part they are the result of stressed employees trying to find a way to cope. I hope the energy sector turns around soon and we can all get back to being productive!!!

While I can't comment on the OP personal hygiene issues raised by anonymous148666, i doubt that the OP is an XOM employee. XOM is nudging, not laying off, senior, highly-compensated people, out the door and has been for the past few years. The "sniveling" and angst expressed by so many CVX posters does not reflect positively upon on any of us for sure. But the anger and extreme disappointment does reflect how personally invested we are in the company's quest for success. Yeah we all wear the albatross of CPDEP, CSOC, PMPs, and other processes around our neck. We have also come to realize that the Chevron Way and the Tenets of Operation apply to everything except MCP execution and the core business of finding and developing O foolish as it may be.

Agree with 148338. Hear XOM is a great place for douche bags like 148315.

Where did you get the idea of XOM starting layoff? No such thing happens. Please check your fact.

If XOM is laying off they have not made a formal announcement. Why don't you just check their boards? I just did. They are pretty much still in the dark. Hardly a fair comparison. If anything, their management is LESS TRANSPARENT!! Hello? McFly?? Hello? I am more like 9 years old but I have more respect for my co-workers than to spout profanities at them like an uneducated, ungrateful, POS thug. No wonder CVX has to get rid of the dead wood. Some of it is rotten.

Just throwing it out there... Could it be because our leadership is less transparent? It would clear up a lot of questions if they said, "Look to your left. Now look to your right. One of the three will be unemployed before the end of the year."

Guess your point is XOM people are emotionally detached. Based on my own experience, I really can't argue against your point.
