2016 is a new year. No more layoffs after September 2015, sure, but what about 2016 ?? The China implosion is still gathering steam, and Samsung is still struggling to make money, they ordered the Korean government to devalue the Won and the Korean government service their order last week !!

No more layoffs this year is believable.

From past experience, the high ups try to present a pretty picture after the first round of layoffs to make sure not more people leave than the targeted amount. The only way a second round won't happen if there is some drastic improvement in the next quarter, which isn't going to happen for sure.

They actually have a toaster for sale that makes toast with an imprint of Pope Francis. I suppose if you use your Pope toaster on breakfast pastries, they'd be Pope Tarts! Maybe QCOM could invent a chip for microwaves that does this on leftovers! The IoT--it's Q redemption!

My housekeeper keeps asking me when the Qpoop module will be available so she can know each time our yorkie has a bowl movement. Eventually thought the full suite of hardware will wipe the dogs but and disposes of the fecal matter so I can fire my domestic worker :)

if voice controlled bluetooth enabled toasters don't take off by 2017, there may be more layoffs in IoE/IoT industry.

Yes, one big layoff is always better than many small layoffs, but companies do not need to report small layoffs.

This is his polite way of saying you are on the list. You can't get laid off twice..

These statements are almost never true. QUALCOMM has had layoffs periodically since its inception.

If any business doesn't turn around, it goes something like this: "We cut deeper that we needed to so that we won't have to do it again"

Then six months later, there is another cut with the same message. I've seen this happen many times at companies I've worked for.

Management will always say "this is the only one". Fun fact: back in the 80's the company I worked for knew a layoff was pending when the president said "no more layoffs are planned".
