Look at you all , even the person who said you all leeches need to look hard in the mirror. Would you ever expect someone lets say an asset manager or a drilling super or any respectable person who leads others to speak this way ?? yea times are tough, suck it up, this is the oil industry and you knew this might happen when you got into to it! You are all sniveling little babies . Wake up, look in the mirror and get your shit together. No body is going to pick up the pieces for you so stop looking down your noses at chevron. Most of the people who post on this board seem like they never wanted to be at chevron in the first place. No body put a gun to your head, you could have got out when the market was great an went somewhere else years ago, The truth is chevron is a great company to work for they have their downfalls and mistakes but let's face it, it's CORPERATE America baby what the hell Do you expect. Grow a pair

I'm glad I'm not like some of these posters on here. Having to give freebies and such to their bosses to keep their job. I just do my job well and I will be keeping it. Confirmed by bosses. And I didn't even have to suck anyone's balls or lick anyone's ass. Lucky me

Anonymous148661 is delusional. Didn't IT leadership announce in the last IT Town Hall that IT Support will be combined?

I've heard IT support in COV should be %100 safe and no cuts will happen, doesn't COV still need support staff, right? So this makes me think no one in support will lose their job!

Oh I am one of the favored sons. I will 100% get a job in ROM2. My son plays Div 1 football and I get signed jerseys for management. I work a solid 2-3-4 or 5 hours a week and relax the rest. So you can dismiss this culture as being disgruntled. I am not disgruntled but I can see the Nepotism/favoritism as I am one of those chosen ones. I was told by 3 managers that I will have a job and to not jump ship. Signed football jerseys go a long way in Chevron. I posted this before and I truly don't think people believed this. But it's true. I was also told over and over again KEEP DOING THE GREAT JOB YOU ARE DOING DURING THE ROM AND DON'T ROCK THE BOAT. Great job=5 hours. I will put in 1 hour a week for the next 3 months as it is football betting season. I need to do lots of reading to catch up on the good bets. You know I am not the exception to the rule I AM THE RULE.

Wow, I'm like, tuned in to the "Chevron Culture" man, because, I'm like, against management and I'm like all on to them picking favorites and nepotism because I know, like that if they weren't picking favorites, they would of course be like, Picking ME for the raises and promotions, because, I'm like part of the "Chevron Culture" and I know how it works because I'm an insider. I'm always getting overlooked even though i'm like, super talented in light of the fact that I can't spell, I'm tuned into the "Culture" that's always holding me down, man. If it wasn't for the "Chevron Culture" holding me back, I would be, like, super successful, man.

This statement has to be the funniest comment I have read on here... Anon597 says "Alas. An employee who acknowledges conviction and strength and work ethic. You will most likely not be cut." Does this guy even work for Chevron?!?! Apparently he is pretty ignorant to the culture here in GOM. If he thinks the above statement is the number one thing that will save a job... shit I can't even finish typing my sentence from laughing so hard! Seriously man... get real and get another job, because your going to need it after X-Mass.

Yes, I know you, I work in BM, I am your worse enemy. Don't "who is your OIM?" me, child!. I like that last reply. "However, if you're an IT person who is actually any good, then your skills should be good at any other company." Alas. An employee who acknowledges conviction and strength and work ethic. You will most likely not be cut. If you are pre-Gulf merger you know the drill. (not gulf as in GOM, fool!!)

OP, quit worrying about it. Cuts to IT will reflect cuts everywhere else. If SPO happens, we won't need all those offshore comms people. There won't be as much incoming data from SCADA and we will offload a lot of our well data. If there's no money for projects, we won't need project teams, or UWT, for that matter. If there's fewer people, there's fewer users, so not as much support needed.

In short, cuts to IT will be as deep as cuts everywhere else. However, if you're an IT person who is actually any good, then your skills should be good at any other company. You should only be worried if you know you are IT in name only and don't actually have any technical IT skills. Then you might be hosed.

Sounds like we have a lot of people hating on GOM but let's not forget you DWEP Houston Ftards managed to F up the biggest project we had planned this year next to gorgon, Bigfoot. And this isn't coming from GOM, everyone knows it.

F***tard 30 percent across the board on ROM2 Alpha 30 percent across the board on DWEP and GOM. There will be empty offices when they consolidate everything in Houston. Are you that ducking stupid? Water Cooler gossip? This is fact.....do you understand the magnitude of 1 in 3 employees terminated. Chevron at its finest.

You guys are just bickering with one another about nothing and talking smack and speculating, and obviously know nothing except water cooler gossip. There is not enough room in Houston for what would be left of DWEP in any case, they would need another building, unless they cut an enormous amount of personnel. And if that's the case where you MAY work will be the least of your worries if you even still have a job. We typically don't move that fast.

Anon 433 is wrong. Yes the company is moving to deep water but there are no incentives to stay in La once the SPO happens. If they were to keep the shelf there is an argument to had but Deepwater does NOT require the same level of presence. ETC is already maintaining some portions of Deepwater. It makes 100% business sense to move to Houston after the sales. GOM and DWEP will look minuscule after the cuts and assets they will diverge will be expensive buildings. It makes 100% to put DWEP and GOM in one building. Deepwater facilities require 1/3 less employees, at least, to run and maintain compared to the shelf. GOM in La is done.

Wrong . The cuts will be deep but it will not be merged with DWEP in Houston . The financial incentives are great to stay in Louisiana and the company is moving more into deep water projects in the future and covington is positioned perfectly to support the LONG term strategy of moving into deep water.

There is something going down between DWEP and GOM. I don't know exact details but everyone knows major changes and deep cuts.......40%. That is close to 1 out of every 2 employees.

Deep! They will be one of the hardest hit. As previous poster stated. They will cut deep, push everything to Houston and what's left standing will move to Houston. Get out whilst the marked isn't that saturated. Those who went in the first round are the lucky ones.

GOMBU (and COV) are being closed and what is left after the divestiture and ROM/RAE will be merged with DWEP and moved to Houston.
