Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

It is time to stand up and seek for clear answer about the future of the Company, enough of ROM BS

everyone knows that 1500 reduction of workforce won't solve the Company's cash flow problem. Company needs major overhaul in management who led us into this mess, and we don't see any changes in management. They can let go of all the workforce, but if the strategy stay the same, nothing will get resolved. The ROOT CAUSE of this problem should be tackled. Staffs didn't cause these problems, they just simply follow the direction given by management and leaders, and now they are being put at line of fire as scapegoats. This shows lack of integrity by CVX leaders. Shame on them.

Won't happen in GOM, if some of these managers put as much effort into our business as they put into fishing and getting cozy with business partners we'd kill the competition in profits.

Anonymous148745 is so right. Chevron employees are best-suited to understand what is broken and to offer feedback. They are not always the last ones to be consulted either. It's unfortunate that employees tend to be more cordial and non-confrontational when given the chance to provide real criticism when asked to provide 360-feedback requests to their supervisors or not taking the time to make these things known in an annual employee survey. If anything, just fire-off an anonymous letter now and then to your BU management or even the CEO.

The only effective response as an at-will employee and shareholder is to resign your position, sell your stock. Then you find, hopefully, a better job elsewhere and a better place to invest. If you own a significant proportion of stock or can form a coalition with other stockholders you may be able to leverage that to exert influence or force a change in leadership. Thats how capitalism works - for better or worse. It may come as a rude surprise but management and key leadership reall doesn't care what you think. Although Chevron employees may be best-suited to understand what is broken, they will be the last to be consulted on how to fix things.

Exit strategy should be done now! I know if I had an offer on the table I would be out the door. Chevron and all the other majors like shell are about to flood the market for what little is out there.

Spot on advice. CVX management doesn't want your advice. If you report problems to your manager, or even worse, the hotline, you will be out the door within three months.

To anyone who survives these layoffs, remember one thing - management and leadership at Chevron are not looking out for your best interest. If you begin to see wrong decisions being made again, start preparing your exit to a better company.
