The ones who will get terminated will be the young low performers and the older deadwood. What will remain will be the best and brightest which will lead to a stronger future COP.

The management is dysfunctional. Hence, their "best and brightest" are often lame dumbasses (most likely like Anonymous148795). Anyways, the best and brightest are either with other oil companies, or left COP years ago.
If layoffs kept the "best of the best", then with all the layoffs in the last two decades, we should have had the best performance compared to our peers. The fact that we don't shows us how effective layoffs are.
Couldn't agree more with 149066. Seen several bville people already laid off that were masters degrees and rocks in their groups. Has nothing to do with under performers or senior employees. Watched a 25 year veteran get walked out and he was the anchor in the group.
Amazing how arrogant people can be. Performance hasn't been the reason for these layoffs. It's politics and money, period. Get your head out of your ass lol

Try not to drink too much of the koolaid. In an ideal world it would work out as you described. It's just a numbers game at this point.
"Best and brightest"? More like the youngest (i.e. cheapest) and best ass kissers.
A few will have to do with performance in the younger crowd. Most will have to do with how many years you have in age and service...translated to number of years of getting raises.
Hopefully they will honor the EOI as much as possible.
