Just wondering if anyone knows if volunteering for a layoff when you have the necessary age and years of service would result in receiving a normal layoff package or just a bridge to retirement? Not sure what is better but think being bridged in your early 50's could be a tough one.

2 years capped is true. It has been applied to some (or all?) canada employees.
BS on two years. Read the severance policy, as it a published document. Four weeks pay minimum. Three weeks per year of service, capped at 60 weeks total. Geez, this board is completely worthless. Half the crap posted on here is so out of line. The company has published policies on severance, retirement, etc. It's all in writing. No two years of pay. That's wrong.
COP will be using 'new math' to determine the severance
Where do you get capped at 2 yrs pay? Is 60 weeks the same as 2 years pay? Thought 52 weeks in year.
60 weeks pay max, as per severance policy. Retirement benefits are as per retirement policy. They are completely independent.
60 weeks max severance pay in the US. Severance will not affect retirement policy.
The packages are capped at 2 years of pay.
