Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Ambu - job openings and prospects?

Have a friend who would like to apply to the Chevron AMBU/natural gas job market. They have family in West Virginia and would like to gain employment. Any advice or tips?

My advise is steer clear of Chevron in a Pittsburgh. It's a sinking ship.

AMBU will soon found out they are cutting back. Way back. I think most of the people in Pittsburgh know it's coming. You can not support a BU with 50 wells. Her chances are 0.

Even if she was ranked as a "1" (highest rank), her chances of getting a job in AMBU right now are very low. She has a better shot in Houston, TX, although with the ongoing layoffs, this and next year will be tough.

What would be her chances of getting a job if she had got a 1?

Anonymous148875, the poster your referred to is only being facetious. But the truth be told, our attitudes toward the ranking scores (of late) ARE a joke. A 2+ and a 2- are the same thing as far as I'm concerned. Those ranking sessions are run by idiots calling themselves our management, our leaders! Personally, I know hard working emoloyees who deserved a 2+ (or at worse, a plain average 2) for their 2014 performance, who ended up with a 2- just ahead of the layoffs. Bad luck or unfairly treated?

Nigel, the VP of the BU is hiring for a personal assistant. Qualifications, young, male, and bi. During the interview he will tell you the position does not pay in terms of money but he can pay with love.

The poster "human energy" is incorrect and kind of mean-spirited. Proably got fired from his fast-food job today.

The only fulltime offers will go to interns with 1's - the upper few percent in terms of rankings. 2+ is a very good ranking but I hope your daughter isnt holding her breathevwaiting for an offer. In GOMBU, summer 2015 interns were told that if any offers came it would be no earlier than 1Q2015. Tough market right now.

No, chevron's ranking system is the inverse of your logic. A 2+ means she got a D. And a 1 is an F. Only the 2- and 3's will make the cut out of the intern pool. I'm sorry.

i was a contactor for chevron and I was recently let go and I actually do have a child who was an intern this summer in Houston. This is her first year as an intern and she is looking for a full time ME position, she said she was "ranked" this summer and she heard she received a 2+. What ever that means . I was wondering what her chances were of getting a job, and what is force ranking ? How many interns receive 2+ or 1s? Do interns who receive 1s have a better Chance of getting a job. And why when will she get a call either way??

This is the "layoff" site and not a place to get hiring advice. Chevron is not currently hiring except for a select few directly from the universities. On the contrary, they had staff reductions in many organizations including at AMBU. This is not an appropriate time to look for jobs there.

Maybe there's an opening. Is your friend a young single man? If so, please let him know he can apply directly with me after 6pm at my apartment. Please lookup my mobile number in the Chevron Whitepages and pass it along to him. Thanks. - Nigel.
