......makes perfect sense.... now everyone lets all grab hands and sing together as CHK goes down in flames and in history as the only oil company to lay off people without actually laying them off in October.

October 8th is how it is done by Carl's rules!!! I have been through 2 with Carl and that's the way he likes it. You will get the minimum for a severance, so stock up now. Look at all the management that will be left after and know this, those bastards care nothing for you. I left awhile back and pray for all you worker-bees!!!!! it will come and management will stop at nothing to get their parachute.

I work at COP and we have a layoff pool in our group (similar to a football pool). You can pick from any work date (excluding holidays and Fridays - we have 9/80 work week so Fridays are when half the company are off) starting on October 1 and ending November 30. $5 to guess the first day of layoffs in our department. At least one person will make some cash. We know for a fact there will be layoffs so that differs a little from what this board is saying but it sounds like layoffs are a real possibility for CHK. If there are no CHK layoffs then maybe the cash can be donated to a charity! Good luck!

Well, it's official. I scanned the last 250 posts on this site and exactly none of them have been accurate to this point. Guess I'll just keep on going about my usual business.

I agree, the list and manager meetings have already happened. Next two weeks, they are not waiting till Oct.

@149566: in 2013 there were no metrics to gauge the low performers. This time everything is documented heavily. It was a pretty smart move.

Nope. These lists and manager meetings have already happened. They want people off the books before q4.

So you're implying the 2015 cut is going to be based on the bottom performers in each group? I know for a fact the 2013 group wasn't chosen based on one simple metric. Do you have any info that backs up your clam?

Not what I was told by management. I was told the next two weeks.

True. Spoke to my supervisor and he expressed the same. They don't have the list ready as yet. Managers have been asked to give their bottom 10% of their group.

You know - you're probably right because that would be 10/5/15. When you add 10 and 5 together you get 15. F***ing math dude....it's the only truth.
