Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

No layoffs

You guys are freaking out about NOTHING! There are no layoff plans. You have all cooked that up in your heads and turned all these rumors into stuff that's so far from true.

If you've been following, people have already confirmed they have been laid off. Small cuts here and there. The '13 layoffs were a result of a massive rework of the company's structure and function. I think small calculated cuts are happening and will continue to happen. This idea that some arbitrary date will see 1000s thrown out on the street is possible, but I doubt it. The cost of severance and all the work involved for a massive layoff isn't something the company wants to report. The oil price hurts, but we are a gas company. A small boost in our realized gas price will go a long way to stop the burn rate. Did anybody even pay attention to Doug's presentation at Barclays? We plan to start 16 with our $1.5 bil. The burn rate has slowed. Gas prices will go up a little in Q3, and more in Q4, Q1. The only thing you can control here is how hard you work, and how much money you spend. Worrying about it won't help. I think this layoff round will be a scalpel, not a clever. Hope I'm right!

What have you been smoking, and where can I get some? Would love a break from the reality of this situation.

We started with 4bil cash, then went to 2 bil. Within a few months we are down to 1.5bil. Won't take too long before all that is exhausted.

You clearly don't see that we are hurting to make ends meet.

Unfortunately these JV, trades and sales should have been done long time ago.

I hope to not get laid off but reality is, they don't care, they need to stop the cash flow from bleeding out. Shareholder value > employee value

True but the building is worth a ton. It would be an easy sale.

If oil prices stay this low throughout 2016, I would bet money that the daycare will close.

Oh yeah I forgot we are just burning through money but not going to do anything about it. I guess it is all the other companies laying people off.
