The bigger the pay

If you make more money than your co-workers who have the same job, be worried! Even if you're the better worker. They really did not look at performance during any of their past layoffs. They lost a lot of their best employees due to the fact they cut the people with the highest pay. Trust me, I was in Management during the 2013 layoffs.

"Bad seeds" is not correct.

A ton of quality employees were let go, some entire areas were shut down, and entire teams kicked. The few that stayed had a select few pull some strings. I know bc they told me they pulled some favors.

This also would explain why so many were hired back. Bc they messed up and wanted numbers down. Why else would you best them, give them a fat check, then rehire them. I wasn't the best but made it back. All who you know.

@151166: you are on the money. The folks on the committees had a hit list of employees they did not like-little to do with work ethic. If you weren't a player, or questioned procedures you made the list. Lots of talent and experience were let go on 2013. Good luck to everyone!

In 2013 it was also about numbers. Every team was hit with IT hit twice as hard as the rest of the company. If you have 5 good people then a couple good people have to go. Why does it always have to be about "the bad seeds", or " the most unpopular"..for those of you who have done nothing but insult those who were let go in 2013, have fun with Karma. Many of those in 2013 worked tirelessly to build the company, had nothing to do with the financial issues and left a lot of amazing things in place for current employees to enjoy. Be grateful, not hateful!

If you were in mangement in the 2013 layoff, you were towards the bottom as far performance as related to your peers. Fact.

Yeah, that's what concerns me. I knew people back in the day that worked at Enron. They found new jobs but not at the same pay level. I think the market rate for spending all day talking about how busy I am is only 67% of what I currently make.

This is how it went for me. I turned in that same list of rankings. The VPs started by making positions for themselves. Then they looked at their directs and cut the people the people they didn't like. Then they went to the next level and repeated using the list. It was just a popularity contest. Plain and simple. Skill or compensation was not involved at all. It all depended on who was in the room making the decision and whether they liked you or not.

Yep. Another one full of shit. I was in management and was told to give the execs the names of those I wanted to keep. No salaries were discussed. The most talented of the group were selected to stay.
