With the exception of personality conflicts and poor results on reviews, most of the hit will end up coming from the more inexperienced engineers, those at the senior engineer title and lower with relatively low number of years at the company. Estimated hit will be evenly distributed across the company, with a slight bias in corp r and d with fewer people hit there since there has been roughly 5% natural attrition there anyway. Most of the impacted corp r and d folks impact will have a an option to transfer to several of the newer projects. QCT vp's were already let go last week (6 total). Good luck this week. You don't know what you are talking about. You can't meet the number$ by just laying off the junior/lower paid people. Senior/high paid/longevity people are definitely in the cross-hairs.
Top heavy company will become even more top heavy. We are on the autobahn to extinction !
Ex director at new company talking to friend director that's been in tune with asembling layoff list for the past month or so. HR already had the list last.month and were just fine tuning it to make sure possible legal issues are minimized. But if you don't want to believe it that is fine. You will find out mid this week for sure. This is the week that it will happen. The impact in SanDiego will be around 2000 people, again mostly more junior people.
How do you people get this information? It would be nice to know just so we know it is credible.
