Just wanted to say this is the 4th time I've been around for layoffs. First time was when I was 27 years old.
It's just part of the business. It's hard for everyone. Nobody wants this. Think of how you were treated until the oil price tanked.
Higher salaries and benefits than any other industry. Every other Friday off. Training. etc. etc. We have no control over the oil price.
It will come back.
I said I've been thru 4 layoffs but I have never been out of work. In each case I actually left before getting laid off. You do need to take care of yourself - you owe nothing to any company. Actually, nobody cares if you or anyone else leaves during times like these.
I agree people need to leave on their own terms..
let me clarify, hiring process somewhere else.
well, I just made it to the next round of the hiring process, almost there. my boss is going to shit himself because we have had so many walk away in the past few weeks. I am being told that we weren't supposed to lose anyone because we were already so tight..and after losing some high level people recently. People need to leave on their own terms!
