Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

What's your happiest, saddest, and weirdest memories at Qualcomm?

I've been through Jacob Sr, Jacob Jr, and SM. For better or worse, this goddamn company has been part of my life, tangled with tons of memories. And that I'm redundant, time to take a walk down the memory lane one more time, and move the f*** on. Fellow Qualcommers and ex-Qualcommers, what is your most memorable memory? Mine includes walking by the poor fella who leaped from W tower in the morning...There were few ladies I really admired but never reveled my feelings...It's a shame the company is going down in such a rapid pace. Sleep tight, ya morons!

19 years with the company. I enjoyed discussions with Irwin when I'd run into him in the elevator in the early days. The early years QC parties were the BEST, those are the ones that Bonnie planned. Things have been changing for quite some time, so I've been preparing, but I hear I'm safe today. Either way, QC has become just a Roy for Paul, and that was sad for me to watch, since I would follow Irwin to the moon. Irwin is a smart man! I'll work til they tell me not to and am excited to see a new route for the company and what it will bring. Good luck to all, 2 people already had 'the meeting' this morning.

One of my jobs when I first came to QCOM was working with a committee that reviewed potential hires for our department. The candidates were of all nationalities and ethnicities. Some were very bright, while others were clearly not qualified. Regardless, I really enjoyed the job, until my wife asked me how many of those interviewees had actually been hired. While there may have been others, I could only name one that had actually been hired in our group. It's creepy how a major company like QCOM can assign you a task that makes you the unwitting accomplice in your own layoff.

Been here for 10+ years... Every year has disclosed different levels of unfair practices in upper management killing morale... So. None.

Saddest: when QC went the unethical route and brought in cheap labor Indians and purposefully shutout American Engineers for the sake of executive pay. Reap what you sow QC. You'll be a distant memory soon enough.

I hate that term, "Qualcommers". We are not one big happy family. It's bullshit. No fond memories for me either

The MediaFLO control room was really cool, looked like a mini NASA.

I have no fond memories. It is a job, nothing more.
