Seattle is amazing. A real city. Sorry, folks. Good weather isn't "culture"

OP again: weather is not the main concern. How stable is qct in sd? Don't want to pack everything just to be laid off in 6 months... Given that I 've got a good offer outside semiconductors here

Come on, Depressing Seattle to Sunny SD ? you guys being serious ? There's no comparison, there's a reason for so many coffee shops there.

Should probably compare Reighley, NC instead.

You're smoking crack, there is one season in Seattle, that is rain 10 months out of the year, I couldn't wait to leave that wretched place!

I am the same poster as 5870.

Seattle area is not less expensive. Sure housing may be a little less expensive but the difference will be taken up by heating in winter. I have lived in San Diego for 6 years and now in Redmond for last 4 years.

That being said - Seattle is much prettier, number of jobs are much more, pay rivals the Bay Area, no state income tax, greener and lots of more things to do around and schooling for children is much much much better. The weather aspect is over-rated, I actually like the 4 seasons and greenery and moisture. It may be a little tough to put up with lack of sun from Nov to March but you get used to it after one year. Overall Seattle over San Diego is a no brainier.

Don't. If you are in Washington, life is less expensive there--even though the weather is mostly crappy. But if you are working 80 hrs. per week, what's the difference? Lots of opportunity in Washington State. San Diego? Not so much.

Don't. If you are anywhere other than CA, don't move here. This is the must screwed up state in the union. My peers and I were forced to either move to San Jose area or be out of job and all of us hate it. Do NOT move here.

Which office is this? If Seattle or Bellevue, why the hell would you want to move to San Diego? Besides too few jobs, it is dry, parched without vegetation and ugly there. Just come by U.S. To Redmond. Still hiring a lot here - particularly software developers with good fundamental coding skills. And salaries will be much higher than San Diego without any state income tax.

At least it will be sunny in the mid 70's when your head is chopped off in San Diego.
