Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Hmmm..Now I have a big problem. Should I stay or should I go....

On one had, I know that I should take the job I just got and leave. On the other hand, if I can hang on for 1 more year, I would vest a considerable amount of money (2 years worth of salary elsewhere).. Plus my lifestyle in CRD will be much easier.... I'm thinking or rolling the dice and just sitting put and do nothing...literally...

If you want easy money, hang out in CRD. CRD has lots of directors/Sr. Directors/VPs. Most of them are having fun & not producing results. They will never get fired since CRD HR supports them. I think except for the core wireless technology group, all the other projects must be hobbiest project. So it is just for fun and no customer pressure. Easy money there for sure till you get nice big package. Qualcomm still have lot of cash to burn so no worries.

It's hard, I work for small company and had people reject our offers and chose to stay or go to Q. It's not that they don't like us, it's because they like the 'stability' and 'reputation' Q offers. It's like you made in when you finally joined the 'elite' company.

Same problem here op. Companies outside not willing to pay enough for a switch.

OP: Re-read your first sentence. That's your answer. Forget the rest. Some of you people need to learn to be more decisive. THAT'S part of the problem with QCOM. You've plugged into the "group-think" --that a few measly thousand dollars in RSUs every 6 months for taking more of your time and more crap than the company deserves--for so long that you don't watch out for yourselves. QCOM doesn't give a sh*t about YOU personally. I doubt any company will, these days. So, do what YOU really want.

If you stay there will be trouble. If you go your income will double.

I did the same thing a while ago. got a great offer with another company. stayed with Q. I can tell you, it was the WORST decision I made! the other company is doing so well, i would have more then doubled the difference between Q and the other company's offered RSU. You get to make the decision for yourself. if it were me, I would strongly consider the growth/management/industry of each..

Q is in for a world of continued hurt. if you stay, watch for continued layoffs as Jana complains about continued value in a split.
