Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Take a look at our financials, Please take your stock out of your 401K and reinvest in a fund. The health of the organization is dead!

Right at the height of the boom Chevron's leadership went on an unbelievable spending spree unlike it's peers. To put this in perspective, Chevron Market cap is around 190 Billion. They spent around 100 billion since 2010. And over the last decade PRODUCTION OUTPUT HAS NOT GROWN. ROE will be negative and Chevron's cash flow is negative. 10 plus billion in the next year. Chevron's F&D cost is an astronomical 32 bucks a barrel today! Can you have a more f***ed up major capital projects outcome? The Bigfoot platform alone costs over $5BB and now won't be ready for who knows how long. COST THROUGH THE ROOF....WAIT WAIT WAIT Gorgan originally budgeted at a $37BB, now looks to cost an astonishing $60BB plus. Royal Dutch Shell (Partner) is adamant that production will not start until 2016 best cas, although Chevron still is aiming for 2015 production. WAIT WAIT WAIT Angola originally budgeted at $4-5BB, will cost 14BB. Design flaws and delays have been hallmarks here just like everything else. The plant opened in 2013, but shipments have been only 25% capacity because the plant will needs Retrofitted as it is broke. WAIT WAIT WAIT Chevron opens a Shale Gas BU and says 40% of Barrel Equivalent will be from unconventionals by 2018. Chevron is dead last on all benchmarking in the Marcellus. The average big independent drills 350 wells a year Chevron drills 50 with 10 X the overhead. Nobody sees it yet but Chevron is on its knees. The shareholders will demand a change in leadership.

It's just too sad that someone who would post "I'm still very Wealthy" on an internet chat site layoffs board is more than likely .......well.... You do the math.............

Good luck to you all.

Savvy Investor - they were matching the 401k's with CVX stock until about a year ago, knowing well that most folks would not rebalance and have a large portion of their 401k in CVX stock.

Sounds familiar ? About the same thing happened with the previous tenants in downtown Houston, only they bought even more Enron stock and some people had 90-100% of their retirement in Enron stock until the company collapsed and when upper management had long cached out.

Only 0.02% of Chevron shares sit in insider portfolios (i.e. upper management). Not exactly a sign of confidence.

Everyone holding too much CVX stock right now only have themselves to blame. You had ample chance to diversify into another fund or move it to cash when it starting falling from $135 to the $120's a year ago. I did that and am sooooo glad I did. I'm still very wealthy. If you put your money into a single stock, always keep you eyes on it.

32 year ol. - Historical data or info is never any guarantee of future performance. If you want to read a lot of hot air, read the post above again and again. It is absolutely NOTHING but hot air and a person venting his or her frustrations. I study company financials all day long. I agree with the poster below. Sell (or buy) at your own peril, but not on the basis of a rant from a disgruntled employee. Seek some reliable financials from a trustworthy source.

Chevron/STD oil family shareholder 40+ years.

We are losing money because we have other companies managing the execution of all MCPs and We don't have the skill set internally. We get chatted markup 30 percent and there is scope creep because the specs are not detailed enough. If you think you can do a better job why aren't you stepping up and stop the constant rehashing

Shares of Chevron (NYSE:CVX) have reached a point that they have not reached in the past 20 years. They are trading for less than the tangible book value of the company.
