I left Qualcomm a couple of months back. Need to get a verification of employment letter to join a power ic semiconductor startup. The letter I suppose would only contain the period of time I worked for Qcom, right? How long does it take to get one?

Just in case others need this info down the line:
"Automated VOE Hot Line: Employees or lenders also have 24/7 access to the VOE hot line by calling (858)651-1740, where with a valid SSN they can verify current employment status, title, and dates of employment. Salary is not confirmed via the hotline."
Contact voe@qualcomm.com or tell your new employer to contact then. Make sure that the new employer has a written authorization from you, otherwise QCOM won't do it (for your security). From the VOE, the requester can obtain (1) employment dates (2) Last job title and (3) base salary info, if requested. I used this many times as part of screening tenants from Qualcomm prior to offering them a lease. It usually takes about 1-2 days.

Former employers will verify length of employment and last salary. This can usually be done with a call to HR.
