"San Diego County’s unemployment rate fell to 4.6 percent in September as seasonal education hiring and a resilient professional sector helped the region shrug off global weakness that has slowed job growth in the California and U.S. labor markets.Local employers created 46,900 more nonfarm jobs than they eliminated over the year, more than absorbing the net 22,300 job seekers who entered the civilian labor force, according to the California Employment Development Department.".....And before you doomsayers claim all of these jobs were seasonal, minimum wage jobs......."In San Diego, the strongest hiring has been apparent in several sectors: 9,600 net jobs were created over the year through September in professional, scientific and technical services; 10,100 jobs in leisure and hospitality; 7,800 in health care and social assistance; and 4,100 in state and local government." As many have said before, SD economy looks pretty well diversified. But hey, I'm sure the entire region will fall into a an abysmal financial cliff anytime soon now. Welcome to San Diego (or California for that matter). If you can't financially cut it, GTFO.
