Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

When 24/7 scheduling comes to your team, talk to the media!

Take it to your local/regional/national media outlets. Start small, the story will grow. There have been big, sympathetic stories about "on call" scheduling at other retailers. The media shitstorm helped to put an end to it. Get talking! You can maintain confidentiality, they will not sell you out. The only way to save your right to work/life balance is to fight.

24/7 is not the mandate in the MA.

I believe in the NE you also need "open avaliabillity" to be elligible for full time. I think it's been like that since right around the beginning of the summer.. When they also required schedules to be posted like 2-3 weeks out as well, a 10 hour gap between shifts, and needed TM permission for "clo-pen" shifts.

The changes taking place that have been generated within the company are not benefiting workers in the stores. If we want change to benefit Team Members, we need to take it outside the walls of the company. Change will come from within, but only with support from outside. Screw Whole Foods, screw unions, use your own voice.

Who else do you recommend talking to besides media? I know HR at my store won't do anything but run and tell on me to the STL.

Seems to be happening in MW region as well. I filled out an availability form today and was told by my TL that my full time status depended on 24 hour availability

24/7 is not a company wide policy, I'm sorry if that's truly the case in the SW region. We do have rigid expectations around expected availability, but 24/7 is just pandering to the union sympathizers. So region here and I don't get scheduled for clopens and the majority of my schedule requests get honored...because I don't ask for 10 special requests a week. We typically have our schedules posted 7-10 days in advance.
