Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Do you think online stores (e.g., Amazon) are hurting us at all

There seems to be a huge push bu Amazon an other into 'healthy' food options - what are your thoughts? I know they have been doing this for very long time but I have noticed that they are advertising more agresively (e.g., I saw some healthy food ads on Amazon front page) and I also see many new websites offering fresh food delivery etc. (e.g., freshly.com or farmfreshtoyou or hellofresh.com or plated.com or whatever)... Thoughts?

I found most all the wb items i use on amazon or directly from the manufacturer cheaper than in a wfm store. Amazon also has a recurring shipment option on lots of health.and beauty items. I started looking into it before the layoffs as at a store level they kept discontinuing everythin

its Whole Foods hurting themselves- people will pay extra for service- like a 4 star hotel or a first class flight- but taking the service away makes it a no-tell motel and a bus. People were the differentiator always at WFM - they have pissed off the wrong group- what will happen when the STL's, ASTL's and Regional folk have to staff the aisles- really they are in their positions because they can't do anything else- got moved up because they screwed up now there system is full of them- like IBM in the 80's bad decisions at the top

I know someone who buys cases of Bob's Red Mill ground flax and ground coconut online. Doesn't have to fight traffic, wonder if the store has a full case, place a special order or anything else. By the way, Kroger bought vitacost.com a few years back. iHerb.com is also good. But whatever... 90% of non-refrigerated products are available online and usually for less money, but even if it's the same money it's more convenient. Another opportunity that WFM management screwed up. BTW Amazon Fresh is offering many of the perishables in major cities while WFM management makes Instacart sound like some kind of dramatic, earth-shattering innovation.

"US" come on... It's not "US." The company made it clear they they are a "them" and we are an "us." And right now they are treating us like it's: "them against us." As to your question look at continued and more aggressive interpenetration with Instacart. Probably the reason for the 365 stores is to streamline the shopping floor. I've done instacart and they do other places and Whole Foods is by far the hardest place to get orders out quickly even though I know where EVERYTHING is at the store and I don't at other supermarkets.

Amazon offers the same brand of vitamins for half the price.

I used Freshly, works pretty well and I liked it. The ingredient quality is a bit iffy - it's kind of a hit or miss situation
