A few of the regional team trainers here were just laid off and one of them has stepped down to become a Front End team member in one of the stores here. I won't be naming the region or names for privacy concerns.
Could they be trying to cut out team training completely and using third party companies for training?
Team training was a joke down here. Trainers were never scheduled time with new people or to attend the meetings with the regional trainer. Another failure of leadership as far as I'm concerned.
these guys are dead meat...tl's and atl's will get stuck with more on their plates..
florida is beginning to outsource their juice bars to a jugofresh company...sushi was long outsourced...i cant see them going to the self checkout because people are to stupid to write bulk numbers on their grains or understand tares and weighed items..case discounts???
Team trainers was a position just to have another person with a title. I gave the position to a good employee that deserved a raise
Team training is dead in our region
In the MA, no word yet of any regional trainers getting cut. I know before we had trainers, it fell on the team leader to do Day Ones, and the STL or ASTL to do orientation. Maybe it will go back to this model.
Everything is getting cut. Whole stations are going to be taken out and outside companies brought it sorta like Kikka. They will do it with the sandwich and pizza stations. The maintenance and cleaning will be outsourced. Departments are going to be consolidated and some will just disappear. Front end will be cut in half with the "help" of customer operated registers. It's going to be a bloodbath. The point is to eliminate as many skilled jobs as possible. Anyone at a Trader Joe's or Fresh and Easy can pretty much do any job at a Trader Joe's or Fresh and Easy so you can fire anyone and it doesn't matter. That means people can't command much of a salary.
