Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Qualcomm Layoffs 2016

Do we have any reliable info (or a leak) on the management plans for layoffs in 2016? Alternatively, I'd be curious to hear what do you guys THINK may happen.

I also would like to see more fat trimmed, otherwise I will sell the stock. QTL royalties are not enough to float this tub of lard.

I am a Qcom shareholder and would like to see another 20% headcount reduction. That is the only way to provide value to investors. Screw the Qcom employees.

Anonymous181037, that's right. And everyone should remember whoever it was that kept on posting "all is good, get back to work, no layoffs planned..." up to about a week or two before it was announced, then they mysteriously stopped posting. Perhaps it was at that moment when they became aware of the impending situation. So I wouldn't listen to the perma bears on this board, but I would just keep your eyes open and IMHO it would be better to line up a better job and get into a better company than take your chances there.

181037 Agree. Just look out for the 2 or 3 queers that pollute this site.

For all those who said that information from this site was unreliable, remember that a rumor of 5000 layoffs was started here first months before the QC announcement. I was a believer after that.

California:

http://www.edd.ca.gov/jobs_and_training/warn/WARN-Report-for7-1-2015-to-10-10-2015.pdf

Layoff in california: ~1400 in california

Boulder:

http://bizwest.com/qualcomm-laying-off-158-in-boulder/

layoff in Colorado: 158

Orlando:

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/brinkmann-on-business/os-qualcomm-layoffs-orlando-20150918-post.html

Layoff in Florida: 38 (even though its says 20)

Rest of the major sites WORLD WIDE:

~1500

Which comes out to be ~3200 and rest is accounted for attrition. (Note: This is all out in public news media).

Normal attrition rate average usually stays from range of 30 to 40% of total layoff. so, 3200+1000=4200 which comes almost close to 15%.

So, I believe there wouldn't be any more but of-course when you are expanding your horizon, you expect management change, compensation reduction, traveling reduction, Real-estate cost-cutting, administrative cost-cutting, and etc to fit new talents.

This is normal for all company going through this phase. Ex. Cisco, Yahoo, Netapp.

Unless some has another link, ~1400 total layoffs by 11/20. What happened to the 15% world wide reduction that amounts to ~4500 cuts? Will this happen in 2016?

Qualcomm will do great with many prosperous years ahead. Show your support and buy as much QCOM as you can.
