Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Time to step down?

I was called into a meeting with all and astl to discuss an action plan. Cool! I thought maybe it would be a 30-60-90 kind of thing. Maybe make 12 sandwiches instead of 9 the first 30 days, the I could add to that. No, it was a laundry list of petty complaints from my team members that we're completely untrue. And if I don't change, I could be written up. My astl said I "could" step down as a team educator for a little while. What is going on? Can I really be written up because someone on the team doesn't like me? Should I step down??? How can I defend myself from this?

it's called "at-will employment" but it means you can get fired whenever they want to fire you for any reason that is not constitutionally protected (race, gender/sex, age, etc.). It's a super nice thing for companies it sucks for labor. That's why organizing matter. You need collective bargaining or you are completely at the corporations mercy, always. They literally need NO reason to fire you in an at-will state. If they say "I don't like your shoes" that's a good enough reason.

OK, stepping down when I go back to work tomorrow. Also updating my resume if things aren't better in 2 weeks. Thank you all for your input. Good luck.

You can't. I'm sure as a tl or atl you've done something grave enough for your tms to be upset for.

Funny thing is, I just finished a TE feedback survey and my team had all positive things to say except for one negative and it was easy to explain.

I feel like I should just leave WF now. Forget severance, forget pto, forget pwa...just go. I never wanted to leave, but our newish atl has never given me positive feedback. 4 months ago she had me written up for something vague and now this action plan. The astl has been in my defense, but I don't think she would protect me. The atl never talks to me and everyone else on the team seems to know more than I do. Seems like she has been slowly squeezing me out of the TE position.

Sell sell sell your stock and run away. Someone is out to get you. There is no protection whatsoever because TMS is rubber stamp. Its like your enemy fails to shoot you at first attempt, so they will be watching you and slowly build a strong case against you - whether true or false till they see you out nicely.

if you are CONSISTENTLY getting bad feedback from your team, then yea...you can be asked to step down.

The process for WF is consistent framework of your performance review being influenced by comments of your team members. Unity and team work is what Whole Foods boast.

Did they offer for you to step down as team educator/trainer? Were the remarks strictly towards training?

They want to save their $.50. Just play their game because you have no protections. Also, in my region, PN, those personal action plans must coincide with a counseling. It's more legit this way because your personnel file is legal documentation and you get the option to comment directly on the paperwork. good luck.
