Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

How Pathetic. COP COST cutting includes a $20 Flu shot. No Flu Shot for you.

I stopped by the Medical Center and asked about the flu shots since I had not seen any communication on the normal annual flu shots. I was told the schedule was on the table without any additional information. So when I look at the table it only mentions other sites. When I ask they say that the shots were at the end of Sep for the Houston Complex and that they do not have any more shots available there. So how many lost work days does it take to overshadow the cost of some additional flu shots. I thought this was kind of the point of doing this. Since I was the only one in the Medical Center at the time I am guessing they are not time constrained to the point they cant spend 5 minutes to sick a person and put a band aid on it. Crap even charge $10-20 for the shots since the convenience of getting the shots on site would cover the small costs. The level of brain power involved in these types of decisions is what put the company in the situation it is in now. Come on Ryan can you spare a little of your $25MM from last year to cover these costs.

THIS is your biggest complaint?? THIS? There is a CVS less than a mile away. Do you never venture into the 500 HEBs in this town giving out flu shots? First world problem, my friend. If the biggest problem in your life is the lack of a free flu shot when you make 6-figures, you have it preeeeeeetty good.

you said it all in the past tense ... because that is what is is. The COP of yesteryear is gone. Welcome to the new era.

COP was a good company to work for and they did have great benefits. Most companies do not offer pension plans and 401K, but COP does. The salaries and bonus were as good, or better in some cases, as their peers. COP gave back to communities by allowing employees off during business hours to volunteer and matched charitable gifts and had a volunteer gift program. There were good years and lean years. I did my job as most people I knew did and we didn't kiss anything. So to all those who are posting about how bad COP was or is there is an easy solution, leave and find a company up to your standards.

Never understood the "I am blessed" mentality. I am blessed to have a husband that beats me. I am blessed to have a boss that abuses me. I am blessed to have a child that smokes meth. I am blessed to have a father that molested me. Yes I am blessed.

Wow, I'm blessed to work for COP, and would happily pay for my own flu shot. They were offered for free, and it sounds like you had your chance. I would be surprised if you are still with COP with that attitude!

The flu shot schedule was on the Mark for days. It was scheduled by location just as in years past. You were too busy posting crap to pay attention to your job and the many perks that COP provides. They were provided this year at no cost just like every other year. Get your facts straight before being a Negative Nellie. It just makes you look stupid. BTW...there are a lot of jobs for stupid people out in the real world. If you go get one of those you will realize that COP has great benefits and you will miss us but we wont miss you.

Boohoo...you didn't make the scheduled flu shot clinic date...go to your Dr. or CVS like the rest of us who don't have access to the Medical Clinic or a shot clinic do

Entitlement mentality still runs rampant at COP. You have a job, you want a shot, pay for it and wipe your tears away.

Next month, (if you are still here), you will need to start bringing your own toilet paper.
