Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Insult upon insult.... South Region starts charging Team Members for Coffee.

Starting in FP2, TMs will be charged $1.25/cup, when using a reusable cup. I always said when they start charging for coffee we should all be scared. What else is there to take? Maybe they'll start charging for parking next!

I am an ex TM and I would be thrilled to pay next to nothing for insurance with a high deductible. Most grocery stores here do not offer insurance until after been employed for 365 days and then you pay $250/mth with high deductible. I had to get Obamacare to fill in for this year...$350/mth for $5,000 deductible on medical, $1500 prescriptions with 60/40 coverage. I would love to have my old WF insurance...

Anybody bitching about TMs bitching about coffee - if our entitled customers are allowed to complain about literally anything and everything then why shouldn't we? If customer get free shit (bulk=free buffet) then why shouldn't we get something free to get us through our dismal shifts? The point of this whole thread is that our jobs are getting harder and perks we had are being taken away and it sucks.

I'm not sure if this is true only for my store or the entire SO region, but community/shared coffee pots in break areas are also not approved. You either buy it or else. That's the part that really sucks about what WFM is doing. It's like, they made a semi-reasonable policy adjustment and they they said "wait... how could we make this totally unfair? Outlaw break room coffee pots! Eureka!!!"

How about insurance with out such a high deductible? Wouldn't that be nice use to be that way we weren't given a chance to keep that when we had "the vote" We the workers are getting less and less oh yea and they let us vote for it too see here there is less to pick from now "vote" for it Really who falls for that kool-aide crap. PERKS: free coffee, free tuition, free break room that isn't a dump supplied with drinks, food, coffee, gym, pool, two days off in a row, yearly bonus for all workers, payed vacation, payed sick days, and a computer system that doesn't go so slow it's like watching paint dry this is just some of the many perks that great companies offer their employees and there many more benefits.

Do the research……WF workers get less every year and the gain share pfft work harder even though a lot of us already are and maybe you will maybe get some gain share oops you are doing well we are going to move those goal post on you again. Nope, no thanks, not falling for that carrot stick ! How about if WF just pays us an hourly wage that we can live on and not go bankrupt if we have a major medical incident and yes young people too have diseases injuries and no matter how well you work out or eat well. Things happen.

"Entitled" is nothing more than a buzz word used by right leaners that have no idea of what they speak not getting free coffee…it isn't for nothing it's something that a good company allows their workers to have and in the "big picture" this is the very least of our troubles at WF. It should be obvious to any one that isn't drinking the kool-aide! Yea wake up and smell the coffee!! and make sure it isn't that burnt weak tasting crap they serve! My apologies to the good baristas that work at the WF you know who you are. Anonymous184155 Waaaa some one might get free coffee how petty is that? Think about it instead of being worried about taking away from people because you don't get any of that perk like you never got anything that someone else wasn't entitled to what bothers you so much that you would begrudge someone a cup of joe. as I said stop whining about small stuff being taken away and not giving a damn because you didn't get any alright it's a select few but realize that it soon will be the bigger things taken from us all……..push your self away from the kool-aide either stay and fight or get another job!

Coffee has never ever been free. Unless it's during holidays or TM appreciation. Are you really bitching about coffee?

The 401K match is pure fraud especially when you have big sharks who have turned cashing in their stocks into a hobby. The South region seems to have more issues than Syria.

That swill is so bad they should be paying us to drink it.

@buyyourowncoffee et al: it's not about the coffee. I used to work somewhere that went under. When the books went red the owner started worrying about how many napkins we were using as opposed to something a little more concrete, like the lower quality, higher prices and poor service compared to years past. And such nickel-and-dime policy served only to annoy the staff and worsen service. Same thing going on here, the books are red and they are grabbing pennies. Tell 'em to invest in a break room coffee maker if they can spare the twenty-dollar store expense. They are playing with fire.

Maybe if you didn't abuse "free" then it wouldn't go away. Have you ever walked around your store and found have empty coffee cups? Ever seen the wasted sugar, creamer, etc? By the way, only a few people drink coffee anyway.

The medical benefits are average. Truly.

Stock options also, not that great when you read the fine print.

Coffee is one of those almost ubiquitous perks of a job, like being provided filtered water or access to a refrigerator.

You should consider raising your standards for what you deserve from a job, Anonymous184155. I mean this in the nicest way possible.

Spoiled brats. Are you seriously predicting the apocalypse for no free coffee? Grow up, you get a discount. Why are you entitled to something free?

Why don't you list all the things you get or do like? Because you like the negative, you thrive on it. Go to wal mart and tell them you want $11 starting wage, free coffee, no layoffs, etc. you will be laughed at!

Coffee hasn't been free for TMs in years in SP. Only at all All Store Meetings (and the like) and frankly at 5AM, I need more than free Allegro to make it. Contributes to unknown shrink...

I believe the coffee post was simply about how WF is trimming back any "perks" for TM''s. And the health insurance deductible is quite high. I owe 5k to hospital for routine surgery. That's 1/4 of my yearly income. Let the people speak, honey.

Why are you entitled to free coffee? I don't drink coffee and don't get anything free. Why are you special? We get so many other benefits, Stock options and almost free medical and you have the nerve to post about that?
