Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Signing up for COBRA via ADP if you were laid off from Chevron

Please note that if you sign the release form, Chevron would pay their portion (as when you were an employee) for 6 months, and it will show on the COBRA form. You also have the option of selecting other health care options (e.g., UHC Option 1, etc.) but Chevron would not pay for the 6 months IF YOU CHANGE YOUR HEALTH CARE OPTION from the previous year.

If you do the election via the ADP form, the system will give you an error message if you waive / change any option (e.g., not electing other options provided).

Basically, you will need to mail / fax the form that was sent to you in the mail (should be sent within 1-2 wks. of the termination date). After you mail / fax in the form, then go to the ADP site to pay. Good luck

This is 509... I misspoke. You will receive your COBRA documents about a week after you receive your severance papers (not the check). If you think it is delayed, please dial the 1-888-TALK2HR line and speak to someone in the benefits of the HR Service Center. I know it's frustrating, but they will help you. When I got layed off, everything worked out well. Good luck.

You will receive your COBRA documents about a week after you get your severance check. You will still have time. Remember that Chevron pays for your current month medical in the 1st of each month, so you have a little extra time to send in your papers to ADP.

You will receive the Chevron subsidy for 6 months on medical coverage. You can elect to take the Cobra dental too, but that won't be subsidized by Chevron. Dental (DMO) runs $41.92 per month for an ex-employee and spouse. Go ahead and complete your Cobra forms and mail them to ADP COBRA Services. They will process them and verify them with Chevron. Don't worry too much that it takes a little while. ADP gives you a 30-grace period to pay for your coverage, so coverage that starts on November 1 can be paid by November 30. The key is to not waste time. Make this your priority. Fill out the forms quickly and mail them off. I chose to use U.S. Priority Mail. It provides delivery confirmation. Allow about 2 business days after they receive your forms, then call them directly at 1-800-383-6931. And one last word of advise, INCLUDE YOUR CHECK PAYABLE TO ADP COBRA SERVICES with your form.

Just got off the phone with them and they are just now getting around to sending my information either today or sometime this week. The thing that concerns me is that as of now they said that there is no subsidy information in there but they are still receiving information from Chevron. Has anyone had any issues with being denied the 6 month subsidy on COBRA coverage?

The OP is correct about this. Be sure to send those forms to ADP asap by mail or by fax to 1-770-619-7160. You can reach ADP for questions through Chevron's 1-888-TALK2HR phone number. Go through the menu prompts and listen for the prompt to press the star ( * ) or pound ( # ) key for COBRA questions. The person who answers your call will be with ADP COBRA Services. Just in case you'd like the direct phone number to ADP in Alpharetta, GA, please take note. It is 1-800-383-6931. I've called them several times since being let go and I can tell you they are very courteous and will help you through this trying time.
