Yes other companies employees the same if not better than COP. My new firm does. Insurance is actually cheaper and the coverage is more. Every Friday is a half day instead of a split rotational. Damn sure less stress too.

I would beg to differ. It's a known fact and it's even been acknowledge that COP G no wonder these guys need $100 oil to survive. It was a up hill battle trying to get those guys to take use seriously after that.

Hahaha! Someone is jealous!! It's okay, other companies treat employees well just like conoco.

Is one of your perks juice breaks? I didn't have that one. Hope you enjoy it.

Quite a few new employees at ConocoPhillips since the split. The oil and gas industry is consistent with human resources factors such as vacation and pay and education. Other employers were not so generous with vacation and pay and education but were more generous with other benefits such as telework and career advancement. The employees are open to the broader options but the employers are not open to the broader options. The five weeks of vacation were OK but I would have preferred a flexible work arrangement including telework and career advancement. A dead end job with five weeks of vacation and high pay is still a dead end job. And now I have no job and no roles and responsibilities of value to note on the resume to justify a future role at another company.

I always wondered how the average COP employee would fare if they lost their job and had to work for another company. Losing the absurd amount of vacation; not having 3 people doing the job of one; taking stress leave because their kid's hamster past away; thinking the world has turned against them because they lost their free pop and juice perk has created some pretty warped expectations.

I doubt the people posting have less than one year. Taking the severances they are talking about takes 3-4 years.

A bank will not loan money on a house to an individual with less than 1 year at a place of work. The entire post is nonsense.

I think the folks that posted buying big items all mentioned they have jobs.

Odd to hear individuals laid off due to a downturn in the industry as a whole are spending the severance immediately on big ticket items. No lack of individuals laid off at ConocoPhillips without sufficient time worked to qualify for unemployment benefits. Unfortunately quite a few of the individuals involved in the layoff are not financially well off due to the challenges of a job search in an industry in a downturn and in a geographic location in a downturn. In the US Texas and Oklahoma are challenging environments.

Haha I am loving my severance. Closing on a 4000 Sq ft home on a third of an acre in the Rockies because of severance.

I'm not poor, I had a job lined up with a reasonable employer before I EOI'd. Oh yeah, I managed a 15k raise out of the whole deal.

Haha that was my experience. Laid off, took $25,000 in severance, 6 weeks later landed a promotion to the job I had, more money, better benefits. Blew that severance on 10 acres of land, building a 3,000 sq ft house.

Thank you for being so f-ing stupid ConocoPhillips, my new employer greatly appreciates it and I'm loving my new homestead you bought me.

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven?

That's some pretty funny s.h.i.t.! However last I hear being layed off doesn't mean that you are poor it only means that you don't have to work for a company where leadership doesn't exist and folks like get you have to get up in the morning to kiss someone's ass. It means that you have to go home to your wife or your husband or your kids and admit to them that you are an ass kisser because you lack leadership and technical skills. The company owns assets you are just a peg on a wheel getting paid to drink coolaid and kiss someone's ass oh and to not make decisions! That's what the the layed off folks are doing tonight relaxing drinking wine hanging out with the people they love and cherish spending time with people that they don't have to lie too because inactuality they do have technical skills. Enjoy your paychecks deep down inside you know you are pretty worthless. For this folks that were not prepared for it I feel bad for you for those who were good for you, for those who are and hopefully will be that are still employed just remember that nothing is forever..... Not even COP.
