Me too, especially with the changes to insurance, vacation, and 401k. Something isn' t right. I've got a strange gut feeling we are all gone. I would definately if i was eligible.

If you receive unemployment make sure you check the TWC website for a job at least 3 times a week. They consider that as making a contact looking for work. If you are on unemployment they will know when you get on there website and look for a job.

And yet they can justify giving bonus checks for those lucky enough to be in the so called bonus program.

If you take the severance package, be sure and apply for unemployment benefits. I did not think I would qualify but I did even with taking the voluntary severance. It is easy to do and you can do it all on line. Your only responsibility is to make five job contacts a week which is easy to do online as well. The workforce commission has a search engine that will match jobs for you so making the five contacts is super easy to do. Supposedly, the Workforce commission will do random checks to see if you are complying but they never contacted me. I doubt they have the budget to actually check on people anyway. Just think of all the losers on unemployment who don't really deserve it. So get your share of the pie because you actually deserve it and it is all legal. Just be honest on the application and you will get your benefits. I was on the verge of retiring anyway so the severance package and the 26 weeks of unemployment has worked out well for me. I dutifully applied for five jobs a week but who would hire an old ex-Weatherford employee anyway? Good luck to all of you. There is life after Weatherford......and probably a better one.

Yes this is true. Several of us 10yr plus guys and a few stragglers got the nice get the fk out pkg this morning. Thx to nepotism and cock milking a few got to keep a job. Its ok. I just signed and left. No since in dragging out the inevitable.

They have to keep cutting so duroc can still get his bonus. When the ax falls again it will be bad for a few and sweet karma for the others. Move over opportunity hello freedom. It feels great to be out of the cooler Shultze, if your older you'll get that joke.

Good luck to all and have a Merry Christmas.

PS: dnt forget your life preserver its going down quick

I went on the first round. They made it sound like it was a one time deal. Many that chose not to take it stayed around for several layoffs and were then offered the same deal.

Appears for Texas folks they are still eligible for unemployment benefits

In Texas, an individual may be eligible for unemployment benefits if he resigned for good cause. Resigning for a good cause work-related reason means a situation that would cause an individual who wants to remain employed leave his employment. General examples include unsafe work conditions or a significant change in the hiring agreement. Resigning instead of risking being laid off in order to receive a severance package may constitute a good cause resignation. Additionally, the Texas Workforce Commission defines a work separation to be involuntary if initiated by the employer. A voluntary separation program is clearly initiated by the employer. Moreover, some employers assume that if they offer severance pay the employee will not be eligible to receive unemployment benefits. Severance pay doesn’t disqualify an individual from receiving unemployment benefits in Texas.
